i've started yoga again since moving aboard 5 months ago. i used to do Kundalini and Hatha yoga almost daily. i'm trying to get back to that. thing is, i twisted my elbow in a bike crash a few weeks ago and it's still healing so i have difficulty supporting weight with my left arm and it makes my sun salutations painful. any tips for getting back into the groove?

Anything that won't injure you. The best way to get back into any yoga or meditation practice is to just keep up a consistency. Every day for x minutes. Every hour for 30 seconds to 5 minutes. Momentum is the key. There will always be exercises that don't involve that part of the body. Stick with those.

Can you do variations of the Sun Salutation? Can you do the Moon salute with variations where you don't get into plank or down dog. I sprained my ankle very badly many times in my life to the point where one more I have to go to surgery, so what I did was I took up yoga and wore an ankle brace and did very very gentle yoga strengthening poses such as downward dog and tree but with support such as the wall, eventually I could do it without the support, now I don't need an ankle brace but am very careful with my ankle. Can you go to a very good yoga teacher who deals with injuries who is able to help you use props so that you can get into poses? There is also something call chair yoga....yeah it doesn't sound like it's a lot of fun or a workout but trust me if taught right it's a workout. Do lying down poses, do balancing poses standing up do all poses that don't require using your elbow as support. Let your elbow rest...there are SO many different poses in Hatha yoga you can do with an injury.

I really need to get back to doing some yoga.
I've been sedentary lately and I can feel myself seizing up.

if you can tolerate doing yoga in a very warn room then to go slow and be patient, without forcing any movement, is a good way to loosen muscles naturally

never force stiff muscles, or especially joints or tendons, these body parts can't be pushed, they heal in their own time

Oh Dear, when I saw you fell off your bike I ran right over to see if I could help spam you. Now that you've been spammed by the Right Reverend Blessed Chamudacreepya, you can take initiation into (yet another) Shakti kriya, this one is called 'down-faced billfold' position.

It's always better to just be better than everyone else and make them pay you for your great kindnesses in spreading the...

    yawn going back to bed.

Practice yoga poses slowly. Don't do hard practice. Practice for 10 mins daily then increase time. Surely this help you.
