The system may not be fully up to speed yet either. Does anyone know how to view other peoples reputations? I read it was supposed to help us distinguish between spammers and regular people...but I don't know how to work it yet.
Why do people care so much what others think of you? Natural instinct to be liked. I did this whole ten page paper on conformity and this reputation thing is just another way of conforming to society. Crap.....
i'm basically just using it to hit on people with overtly sexual comments. is this bad? i pretty much approve of them if i'm hitting on them.
I'm not sure where the reputation thing is, maybe you have to be a supporter, which i was planning to do but now I cannot see where to do it. Why does this feel like the first day of school and I forgot to put any clothes on?
is there a way o checkin out what other peops reputation points are? so ya can see if ya agree? if ya catch me drift!
i think it'd be a good idea to put your name at the end of your comments on the reputation thing. that way any problems can be cleared up, and love can be passed about, too. only if you wanna, though.
I tried to give you a point there, Third B, only to discover I already had and I can't do it again so soon. Seems I just keep on agreeing with your sound pronouncements! Big-ups, fella. I don't like the feature either. It's elitist, and it turns the forums into a popularity contest. Friends will vote for friends, and the rest of us will feel unwanted and unloved!
Both Sal and Skip shed some light on the reputation thing in the UK forum. Sal said: And Skip said... Be that as it may, I still don't know what to think about the reputation deal. I don't think I really have any opinion on it one way or another. I do think it's great that people have the ability to turn it off if they absolutely hate it.
Ahh, so it's works on the "trickle down" theory. No wonder most people don't have any. If you want some, here's my advice: First you have to go golfing with someone who does, and kiss their ass (this is what the "rep threads" are for). Occasionaly, you can catch their attention outside of a rep thread with a really funny or smart post, and they will give you a little, like a pat on the head (though usually if you get rep outside of a rep thread, it's bad rep, some people have been known to get lucky). In any case, you have to have 15 rep points before your rep counts for anything. Once you reach the magic number 15, you too will have rep economic power and you can begin actively trading with others. You give them one they give you one, etc. And if you don't piss anyone off and get bad rep (which makes you lose points), and work hard, making friends and influencing people, eventually you will get to 50 rep points and become a "seeker of wisdom." After which point, you may continue to visit the rep threads (but now just so other people will kiss your ass) and your little pats on the head are worth double. Simple Reaganomics, kids.
