Hi. I've just joined the forum and one of my main interests is keeping fit. I train or run about four times a week and I've kept a 'progress journal' on the more specialised fitness websites. I’m going to do a sort of ‘training journal’ to register my workouts. It’s basically a diary which I can keep in one place on here. If anyone wants to ask me anything about fitness training in general, please do so J I’ll begin here by posting an example of a typical workout routine. This one is a recent legs session done last week: Tuesday 6/5/19: Legs. 1hr.10mins. (All weights in kgs) Incline press: Feet low on plate - 20x150, 12x220 5x320 +3, +2 4x340* +1 *Usually stopping at a maximum 300kgs (if I’m even feeling strong enough), today I added a further 20kgs and broke the 320 barrier. My legs feeling really strong I then went even further by pressing 340kgs – a weight I haven’t pushed since before I was 50 I reckon. What’s this nonsense about muscle wastage when you get older…pah! Feet high on plate – 7x270 +3, 10x200 +3, 10x150 +5 20x120 +5 Seated ham curl: 20x40, 12x50 8x60 +4, +2 25x35 Sled press (alternating feet positions): 20x150, 12x180 10x200 +5, +4 15x140 +10 Calf press (toe push, using sled press): 20x100, 12x120 10x140 +5, +3 25x100 Adductor: 20x50, 12x55 8x60 +3, +2 25x40 Abductor: 20x50, 12x55 10x60 +5, +2 25x40 Extensions: 20x50, 12x80 8x100 +3, +2 25x50 Incline press extra: 10x150 – pause - 10x150 – pause - 10x150 – pause - 10x150 – pause - 10x150 *The full five sets this time but it was one hell of a struggle fighting for my breath as I paused for the obligatory couple of seconds between sets. Lying (prone) ham curl: 20x25, 12x32.5 5x40 +2, +1 25x20 Thanks for reading
good on ya rep - I'm still getting over a knee surgery so can't join ya just yet - but I'm right behind ya!
Thank bud Good to see somebody who enjoys looking after their health. Sorry about the knee issue. Are you are seasoned gym addict too?
you know buddy I'll be really honest - I did buy a home gym once but the thing I couldn't get through time and time again was what I felt was the boredom of just doing exercises time and time again - I must admit I didn't use any music at the time and I think that might help - wot do you fink?
It depends what sort of training I'm doing. If I'm doing cardio stuff then headphones are essential but with weights they just get in the way so I listen to the crap that they play on the gym speakers, so basically I switch off.
in theory, i agree. but i can't count the times i've gotten halfway through a workout and suddenly realized, hey, there's no music playing. and it never seems to matter at the time.
I’d love to see more logs... Maybe a shoulder one? I’m attempting to move around and add more shoulder exercises.
