By "pinched nerve" I was thinking along the same lines as what happens in the lower back when someone has sciatica. Except when this happens in the upper back/neck area it usually causes tension headaches. It's a pinching down or narrowing of an area where a nerve passes through. X-ray won't show much, usually calls for an MRI...

I will talk to my therapist about an MRI or a neck x-ray and see what she thinks, she is faxing over everything she has done with me in therapy to my doc so I guess I will go from there

This was my thought too - upper neck is what I was thinking.

I had something like this a few years back also. However that was from a bulging disk in my lower neck. There are nerves in the upper neck that service neck muscles connected to the base of the skull, and pain in those muscles could feel like a migraine. Also a pinched nerve doesn't always cause pain at the pinching site, sometimes it only affects the organ served by the nerve.
I concur, doctors. :D An x-ray could help show abnormal vertebral alignments, but an MRI would show a lot more detail, and would avoid radiation exposure.

But I ain't no doc, of course...just an ignorant slut wannabe. :)

    Seems like a good plan.

Amen to that, Jen. Chronic pain is a bitch.

Unless you have lived with it there's no way to understand how much of a bitch it really is.

Uh huh. I have an inkling, having suffered in my youth and younger adulthood with days-long debilitating migraines.

Whatever was causing that seems to have been miraculously cured sometime around my mid- to late-30s. I don't know how or why.

    It's all about teamwork!

    Random fact...

Got a "new to me" sound card for the studio today. It's an Echo Gina 20bit. It's going in the rackmount XP machine.

It's an eBay score... $1.25 + shipping... Seems nobody else wanted it. :2thumbsup:

Correct... 2 line in and 8 line out (all 1/4, no Mic jacks) There is also SPDIF coax on the card for another 2 in.2 out digital.

I have 24bit capabilities via Audigy cards as well but those are considered "consumer" quality. I get some damn good recordings, regardless.

The system I'm putting it in is basically going to be a guitar processor using VST plugins as the effects. I should be able to run various sounds/effects to different outputs and then record them with a different system... This is one reason I have more than one computer in my studio. ;)

yeah if you are just using it with plugins it should be fine... but are you sure that modern day recording software is even 20 bit compatible?
