A bat was flying around really close to me at sunset the other night. Close as it was within 20 to 30 feet of me. It was brown.

I've never seen a bat so close up like that.

It struck me that it was a flying mammal, and that it was flying with such skill. Better than some birds can fly, lol.

It was a cool sight to see.

bats are very common in ontario...i have grabbed a bat in my house with a towel and chased out several with a broom...they are very ugly creatures.....common here to see them whizz by your head at night...they eat thousands of mosquitos so they are good to have around

Over the years I have had a couple bats get into my apartment (never did figure out how they got in) The problem with bats and flying is that once they are on the ground they have to climb to some height to get back to flying. They can't take off from the ground as birds do. So the one that landed on the floor was easy to scoop into a box and take outside. The other one, I had to put a box up to the air conditioner (where he was resting) and wait for him to get in the box, then take him outside. :2thumbsup:
