    humans are imperfect, and we can only ever imagine, not know with any real certainty, each other's intent.

    innocence is perhaps a somewhat relative concept as well.

    neither justify any act, failing to take into consideration, all of its possible consequences.

    (however compelling its motivation might otherwise be)

    We went to Shanksville right after they cleaned up the crash site of flight 93.
    Nothing there but a big hole in the ground then.

    it is never sufficient to remember that bad things happened, or even good ones, if we wish to choose what we bring about, but to learn and understand the factors that contributed to bringing them about. this has always been my frustration, with the very dysfunctional and misleading way history is far too often taught.

    i would say remember the choice the diversity of reality gives us, that the choice of universal consideration, creates the kind of world we create going forward,
    that unlike events of the past, continue to the the kind of world that comes toward us, out of our shared future, that we each together and alone, are fated,
    this fate we alone create, for ourselves and each other, to experience.
