i remember that brief moment, when we looked to the future, instead of walking backwards, staring at the past.

"... and what do you get, another day older and deeper in debt ..."

also there was "along came jones, slow walking jones, slow talking jones, long lean lanky jones"
and of course "big bad john",

also remember kingston trio's, hang down your head tom doolie, hang down your head and cry.
which the flip side of the 45rpm single was "get charlie off the M.T.A."
"or else he'll never return, no he'll never return and his fate is still unlearned, as he rides for ever neath the streets of boston, he's the man, who never returned."
"every day his wife goes down to the skully square station, just about a quarter past three, and she hands charlie a samdwich through the open window as the train goes rumbuling throuh"

Lived in a company town (sawmill) for a while. The company store was the only pharmacy, food store, hardware store, lumberyard and hotel in town…what an experience.

railroad had a company town on donner summit called norden. there's still a post office there for sierra club and ski cabins and what not, which is combined with the one store and gas station. except the company never owned the store, which is i guess why its still there. when i lived there in the late 60s, there were these enclosed wooden sheds connecting all the houses and the railroad facilities (because the snow gets that deep). there was even a 'cookhouse' (restaurant) that was part of the company. the two lane road through there, which also serves ski areas on either side, was the old highway before the freeway was built around the other side. the railroad of course hasn't relocated at all, but no longer cuts off helpers at the top of the hill, thus eliminating the function it had served.

i remember when people didn't think they were doing the world a favor by trying to make everything have to be about money,
nor by harassing everyone who didn't pretend the same things about the unknown as themselves. (and calling it "religious freedom" to do so).

Funny, seems like Dems like Manchin, RFKjr and Sinema are products of selling out to the man.

I was born in 1964, I remember when my Father and Mother were highly upset when RFK, MLK got killed by our Oligarchs, my Father gathering us around the TV to watch Apollo 8 go around the moon and watch the Moon landing .

In hind sight, that's when the Government feared the youth, so they created the Vietnam War to kill the youth.
I am going to College again, many of the young are not going Republican and I see a lot of " Hippyness" in them.
Hippy ideals may finally make true change happen .... it's coming !!!!
