I was going to buy a pair of Air Jordan’s until Dee Brown of the Boston Celtics won the slam-dunk competition wearing the Reebok Pump so I settled for the pumps. Hotwater
i was a poor kid .. never owned any and by the time i could afford to buy them myself i was way past the wanting to be cool stage
I don't remember them ever being cool.. Most bullies stabbed the air pockets with scissors at school.
i remember when athletic shoes were not cool at all. i mean to each their own and all that. i remember when canvas shoes were something cheap for people who couldn't afford real ones. and i hated the damd things because grass seeds would get stuck in them and irritate my feet. still do and still defies my comprehension that anyone would pay real money for them. other then that "there's a sucker born every minuet"
I had the shoes with red lights in them. The lights wore out after a few months though. The teenagers had them so I thought to be cool I needed them too. Air Jordans are still popular among black people probably not as much as the 90's though.
No, never paid attention or tried to keep up with any Joneses in any way. I always did my own thing and had my own style...for sneakers, i always liked the converse ones or slp on ones in white or black , and for jogging these days, i buy what works best for my feet, body frame, etc....seems to be Skechers, at the moment. i liked reeboks, but can't find any i like any more of those.... I was just thinking yesterday.....i want to get a pair of red converse sneaks eventually....they have that old fashioned appeal to me.....I am known to wear them without laces.....sometimes.
