Why is that economically we all espouse self responsibility (the poor should pull themselves up by the bootstraps, suck it up and get on with their lives), but yet we wage wars based on the premise that a certain religion can grant you salvation based on pure belief? Die for the glory of god's name. We kill, we bomb and destroy other countries and peoples based on a salvation that is purely promised on blind belief, but we hold each other individually responsible when it comes to money. It's not quite that simple, and if we openned our eyes we would see that most of us are being used to benefit a few, those that feel powerful enough to manipulate us and walk away with their pockets full.
We talk peace and love but we teach competition and exploitation. We have been brainwashed to deny our innate power to choose and act. We trust God to guide us but not our intuition. Our truth becomes abstract as reality crumbles before us. Wake up. Peace and love is the way and the light and it is our birthright. We don’t have to go anywhere to find it. It is right here right now.
Church is institution which imposes its beliefs and thoughts and the problem is that most people belive in their stories such as Bible, God etc. But all religions aren t so bad and corupted as we think but who knows?
“Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.” Steven Weinberg
well, i am from a catholic family and as i grew as an individual, I found that Catholicism is the worst possible form of religion. They tell you how, when and where to live your live, to pray, eat and sleep. For all i know the bible was written by four dudes sitting under a frickin tree. A man made religion, man made to make us fall to the power of the all that is the corporate world. I respect all that (they say) Jesus did but how do i know real from fake? howdo i know that there was even a guy named Jesus? One other thing about religion, all these wars in the name of God are wrong. Does god want us to kill each other in his name when all he was trying to do was spread love, peace and unity? NO! people are so ignorant...they sit there and fight with each other until there is no such thing as talking it through. Act like adults for once and talk it through then we won't have to complain about death and destruction. As far as other religions go, I respect and accept all religions and am curious about them. I don't hate them...why would you? What's the reason for hate? It's just people coming together and worshiping the the god of their choice. Peace, Love and Unity...deep down inside that's what every religion is about.
everyone has their own path.....spiritual or not. i dont judge anyone who chooses to be atheist, but atheism is the most selfish point of view, in my opinion. the enemy is not religion, it is FUNDAMENTALISTS
banning religeon would have the same effect as banning 'drugs'. simply fan the flames of the alure of forbidden fruit. better would be to tell people the truith. that the sacredness is in the land and in the forrest, maybe even in the space between the stars, and not in the coerciveness of human society. =^^= .../\...
to me, god is a concept that makes people more comfortable with being alive and with getting through life.
You need to relax. People are allowed to believe in what they believe in, whether it be Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, ect. They are also free to choose to not believe in any religion. What would burning churches, mosques, and synagogues solve? To stop people from killing over religion, you would kill over religion? That is adding a dash of hypocrisy, is it not? I hope you do realize that even if there was no religion and everyone were athiests, there would still be war over other reasons. It is human nature to disagree, and, unfortunately, people fight rather than realizing that difference in the world is beautiful. In short, I am saying that you shouldn't put so much blame on religion. I find it disrespectful to have the frame of mind that everyone should think and feel the same way that you do. Let people carry on with their paths in life, and you carry on with your's.
I'm not fond of religious fanatics neither, but making religion illegal is the most stupid thing to do. It would only be a justification for them to blow you up. As for organized religion, if a lot of people want it let them have it. Most of those followers aren't out to harm other people, so let them be. I'm not a fan of it though.
I am not a fan of organized religion. But all one has to do to see the influence of a higher power is experience a beautiful spring day. No church or multinational company could accomplish that. They sometimes want to accept the applause for it, but only Mother Nature holds that magic. She alone has more power than any man or organisation. Mother Earth will in the end probably see the demise of puny man. And probably come up with something better.
i was raised Christian, tried Wicca, converted to Islam (don't ask) and have finally found the path that works for me in Zen Buddhism. i have seen and experienced many things in my life; even had my life threatened when i was Muslim by a group of Christians. people's learned prejudices not religion are what get in the way. Buddhism is as close to an organized religion as i can get. when i meditate on a good day i feel so connected to life. i am everything and everything is me. i wouldn't trade that feeling of connection for anything in the world. it is the utmost feeling of peace. no fighting here. i think each religion is a path like another poster had stated. we're all on our own journies. no one has the right to say my path is wrong or your path is wrong. at the heart of each path i think is a message of inner peace and respect for life; at least for most religions. if you don't subscribe to wanting inner peace and a respect for life then don't follow that path but to comdem all religions is being a biggot.
