I think the issues become blurred in the minds of some. They are unable to differentiate between general right wing rhetoric against immigration, and the refugee crisis.

People who really don't apparently give a shit about people being driven from their homes in fear, kids drowning, civilians getting killed in wars they didn't start etc, seek to make cheap political and rhetorical points out of a humanitarian crisis.

I wonder if the type of racial stereotyping in the cartoon would be tolerated if Black people were the target?

sure is a lot of rich men coming over

how many of us could afford to pay smugglers thou$ands of dollar to hop on a ship?...how many of us could afford to ship our drowned family members back home for burial?

Im curious to see in the future how many "sleeper cells" and terrorist attacks come out of these refugees

plenty of wolves in that flock

Big cities have always been cosmopolitan. Every big city I've ever been to with 1,000,000+ people living there has been a popular hub for international people to live. And that's not exclusive to European cities, American ones as well. Big whoop, so what? If you want to travel to a country and really experience the culture, don't spend all your time in the biggest capitol city of that country. Try to spend more time in that nation's countryside. I learned you'll get exposure to the most culture when you're far away from all the western influences like Starbucks and KFC all over the place in those major cities.

Multiculturalism isn't a scary boogyman unless it's forced upon us. Do you really think the UN is doing this entirely for humanitarian causes? A successful elite politician once said "Never let a good crisis go to waste." And that's exactly what they're doing: Taking advantage of a crisis to move more migrants to wealthier nations to promote cheap labor to drive down everyone else's wages, provide them with government handouts to buy votes from them for future generations. This begs the question I asked earlier in this thread: "Why are WESTERN nations being used as refugee dump sites and not the neighboring middle eastern islamic countries?" (Posts #53 & 54).

If they want to drag in migrants by the millions from a part of the world where gays are imprisoned and women are treated like property, I can't imagine a part of the world like Europe where women and gays have rights would clash very well with the homophobic mysoginistic standards many of these people are used to. Not to mention schools in Germany have been telling schoolgirls not to wear skirts so they won't offend the migrants, so could argue the cultural change is already taking affect: http://www.i24news.tv/en/news/international/europe/76383-150627-fearing-syrian-refugees-german-school-bans-miniskirts.

Seeing how many of these refugees aren't actually from Syria, and they are just pretending to be, I say send them back to their REAL countries. http://www.news.com.au/world/europe/refugee-crisis-in-europe-something-fishy-among-migrant-flood-as-discarded-id-papers-appear/story-fnh81p7g-1227515922792

Who's to say these pretend refugees aren't ISIS members? http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-09-11/europe-flooded-reports-isis-terrorists-posing-refugees

I won't repeat the exact things I said in my response to Meliai, so I just say look a few lines up regarding my take on multicultural cities. It's not I dislike that culture, my flatmate happens to be a Senegalese muslim. Yet if I wanted to experience middle eastern culture first hand, I would love to go to Turkey, Egypt, UAE, or anyplace like that to go and experience it. Not the Netherlands or Germany.

We prefer to use the military to get our political way. We give weapons and training to the person we want in charge and then are surprised when that person starts to do things we don't like. The Middle East has always been about supporting the lesser of two evils. You are dealing with people who don't like the "western" way of life. So to me it's no surprise that they eventually turn against us.

We keep thinking that one more military action will fix things. What these people really want is to be left alone. But we need their oil so we stick around. In a perfect world there would no dependence on fossil fuels. In that scenario I think we could come to some diplomatic agreements that would be better for both sides. The real solution to refuges is to stabilize the region they come from. There are many human rights violations where they come from. But Americans do not send our military there for those reasons.

There is no doubt we in America have contributed to this refuge situation but I still think Europe should accept them. I understand that there are limited resources. There are only so many jobs, so many houses and so on to go around. But from a ethical standpoint it's the right thing to do. You are lucky to live someplace people run to and not from. America could accept them as well but we also have immigration issues and prejudice against Muslims. It is true there are some I would not want living in my community. I am not talking about Muslims in general I am talking about the extreme minority. You can not be overly politically correct and deny these sort of people exist and their religion has told them they must destroy western society. But they really are a minority.

Please allow me to interrupt and call bullshit on the theory of American military intervention in Syria.

Remembering Nanci Pelosi's kissy-face visit to Assad in Damascus during Bush's war in Iraq nine years ago.

Syria is a place where The Arab Spring failed, yet Julian Assinauge's Wilki Leaks caused political damage to the Assad regime.

Remembering Obama's "line in the sand" on Assad's chemical weapons until Vlad Putin backed him down, Russia has a naval base in Syria.

the Sunni peoples of Syria can get plenty of weapons from Saudi Arabia and others without America getting its hands dirty

The Shia peoples of Syria receive arms and military assistance from Iran, who sponsors Hezbollah in Syria.

ISIS is not an American creation or agent.

Todays headlines speak of an increase in Russian military assistance to Mr. Assad.

Sure, America is powerful with a huge army, fleet, air power and satelites surrounding the globe, but it is not omnipotent and not everything that happens on our planet is from Americian machinations.

Conspiracy or not, I think the threat that thousands of trained combatants are being smuggled out as refugees to me a valid point in to not taking them in. Those fuckwit muslims, we all know they'll blindly destroy themselves for their greater good, so palming them off as refugees into our western world seems like an extraordinarily good idea.

They're starting fights in my country already bringing their Isis flags with them. "Peaceful" refugees apparently.

The threat that IS affiliates come in with these refugees is not a valid reason to let nobody in. It is only a valid point to be more on our guard who we let in and who not.

People who say close the border for every refugee seem to crave a simple solution. Well, we all would wish there is one but there isn't a simple solution that is fair and good for everyone. Most of these refugees have nothing to do with the fuckwit muslims you talk about. If you are talking about all muslims in general there, you are the one with a problem of course. Most are fleeing from an intense war.

The ones who start shit in your country, even declaring sympathy for IS are not the average refugee. To insist we should treat every refugee as an extremist muslim or undercover IS soldier is really ludicrous. To see every refugee as a POSSIBLE IS affiliate makes more sense. This is also one reason why Germany closed their border. If they can't check and registrate those people they can't verify who is allowed to get in or not. Germany declared to be willing to take in a lot of people, but it appeared they can't take them all in at the speed they arrive. So it takes time. The ones that need a place to stay and don't seem a threat will get in however :)

We may expect that people who got into your country and start shit will be dealt with adequately. It does not make sense to become anti-refugee as a whole because of them. It is clear that most who have a problem with allowing any syrian family in a western country at all have a problem simply with their religious/cultural background. Gladly those people are a minority in most (north) western countries.

The question is: where do the Saudis get their weapons in the first place? America and Britain among others. So our hands are already dirty.

According to translators on field, Syrians are a minority.
    And 80% are men.
A lot of them from Albania and Kosovo.
Seriously, of cca 1100 of them yesterday evening more than 800 were men, and only 150 children. The number has increased since then, of course.

    somewhere in Hungary
    [IMG]

They've been here for less than a day, and they're already rioting.
    One day.
If Slovenia decides to close their borders, we're gonna get so screwed, since Hungary decided to build a fence/wall on Croatian border as well. Who can blame them though?
It's a shame we don't have capable politicians in charge.
It's funny how everyone was calling out Orban, but now everyone's practically doing the same.
And if they're throwing rocks from the Serbian side at Hungarian policemen, that IS an attack.

Oh and anyone can cross the border, provided they have the needed papers. But if you refuse to get registered you won't get it, rightfully so.

You can all act oh so liberal on this issue, but it's not very reasonable, since it's precisely your liberalism that it's going to be threatened long-term.
You can defend Islam all you want, but the truth is - Islam is a peaceful religion ONLY when Muslims are a SMALL minority.
Now you can tell me all about this nice, peaceful, hard-working Muslim family you know, or the lovely Muslim guy from your work bla bla bla.

The only solution is peaceful Syria, and not immigration. But lol, that's not going to happen.
This crazy out of control immigration is a failed experiment, and I'm starting to think EU is too.

There's too many of them (the number is in freakin millions), and Europe is not ready for this.

I'm not a "right-wing robot" or whatever name Meliai used (not for me, but in general). But you really cannot accept a million Muslims, and expect nothing to change.
As I said, the only solution is peaceful Syria, but the world doesn't seem too interested in that.

Just because they are wearing a hijab does not mean they favor sharia law ;) or are forced to wear it. I'm not sure why you are focussing on that. It is as much a cultural thing as solely a religious thing. And... many syrian women don't wear a hijab, it really is a voluntary thing in Syria. I don't know why you haven't seen them though.

Anyway, immigrants from the balkan will not get a perminent stay at all. Also on the short term syrians and some others (I think afghani's but far from just anybody, and africans like people from Eritrea) seem to get priority. So just because they are also on the move does not mean countries like Germany have to keep everybody out :p And they aren't doing such a thing. All these people from the balkan ARE part of the reason the border is closed but it does not mean syrian refugees aren't or shouldn't be taken in.

The solution is of course peace in Syria but this is not a short term solution, so wether we like it or not we have to help the people that are fleeing from war and (in some cases) oppressive regimes. Which does not necessarily has to mean that we take them all in. Supporting shelters and camps in Syria's neighbouring countries that already have the millions of refugees you are talking about seems at least as important.

Just because nobody is ready for this doesn't mean we shouldn't do shit when they knock on our door. Most people from Albania and Kosovo should just fuck off to their own country at this moment. And it is really not about things as being liberal or a right wing robot. Silly semantics.

We should just give them food and water, and medical help if they need it, and transport them to Slovenia.
They don't want to be here, and that's totally fine with me.

Why should those kosovans and albanians go to Slovenia instead of back to the country they came from?

edit: or other refugees? ...if you didn't mean them in particular! ;)
