Ahh i just decided to try drinking red wine because of this thread, and it was gross. As soon as i pulled it out i was like oh shit what if a rat peed in here? (haha i dont know why... i am really high) And then i started drinking and it tasted like rat pee! That was sick... bleh! now i am eating a bowl of brownie batter... now that goes good with bud.
well what kind of wine was it? even among similar styles there seem to be a wide range of flavors, and some are very sweet, some are more tart, and some are very, very dry....some wines are definitely an "acquired" taste for most people, it seems....its the case for me, whereas things like coffee, beer, rum, i liked right away....but i'm starting to really love wine.... tonight i got a bottle of yellow tail chardonay because i've never had that type of wine before, and yellow tail is less than ten bucks a bottle. can't beat that (i'm trying to stay on a budget here, and it would be easy to go crazy) {edit: i drank a made up drink similar to a kir using a cherry liqueur rather than creme de cassis, which is made with currants, but now i'm drinking just the wine...this is pretty nice! i'd like to try some better wines of this style sometime}
white tail is decent, considering the prices. i like the shiraz. i havent had the their chardonay, i don't really drink any white wine. another, cheap (somehwhat) wine that i distinctley remember being consistently good is any kendall jackson cabernet or merlot. it's a california wine, and it's about 16 bucks a bottle, and well worth.
your 14, wtf do u know about liquor in general? i'm not a fan of wine, but it's a very develloped taste i am however a big fan of congnac's, mmm Hennesy being my favorite, special reserve XO feels like your on drugs when u drink it, and it tastes so damn good too kinda outa the price range of 10$ bottles of whine though
Make your own wine, honestly if you can wait 2 years to age it, or even 1 year for $3 or less a bottle you'll have a wine that is comparable and often better than the stuff you get for $10 at the LCBO, plus you get the satisfaction of creating something beautiful from seemingly nothing.
we don't have LCBOs outside of ontario.... anyway, i like cognac alright. but then again, i've only had a single bottle of it. it was great for sipping, compared to a comparably priced liquor of another variety, but still...it wasn't as good as i'd wanted. i did have a MUCH nicer bottle of armagnac though...still, i can pay $25+ for a bottle of Martell VS cognac, or like $20 or less for a bottle of Bacardi 8 aged rum which i like better to begin with....
if i had $350 to spend i'd be buying good cigars, pot, and maybe some nice booze...but certainly not a $350 fifth....
