Minxy Mau, the little beigy female cat here has stomatitis, and went for another shot today, that usually relieves this condition for two weeks, only. The advise has been by several vets now, that extraction of most of her teeth will be the only real option. Only problem is, I read on google, that this is not a guarantee, so trauma to this cat plus expense may be futile, anyway, but seems the only option.
My vet is stalling still because of her young age, still. I don't think she is a year old yet. She crapped and pee'd in the carrier, and what a mess that was to clean, but that is just a sidenote...as this is how scared she gets going to the vets in the first place.

I don't know what to do. She will be able to eat fine for the next two weeks, anyway, without me having to drop clydomycin in her mouth daily, which she hates and pees all over me each time and scratches me everywhere...to try to escape ...not to attack me.

I hate this disease, and feel so badly for this cat.

Stomatitis is inflammation of the gums that can create ulcers in a cat's gumline, and they will literally not eat and starve to death, as it pains them that much to eat.
Cause of this disease is unknown.

Maybe pull the teeth, as you said and then feed the poor little thing soft food only. She is depending on you, of course. Poor little baby.

Her two shots today were Convenia injection and Depomedrol injection....
Yes, I am afraid that will have to be.....removal of teeth, and as one vet suggested only one quandry at a time. :(

My lady friend in Cali fed her little buddy by hand the last year of his life because of his teeth. Fuckin' coyotes came through her yard at night and ran him into the road, where he got hit. I miss the little bugger. he was a good one. Hope your little one gets better------

Coyotes can be viscious to cats...and toher prey. I hate hearing them at night here like they are one big band of ravenous monsters killing something and having a party.
Looking through photos here, to find some to share. This was not meant to be downbeat this thread....It is also meant as educational....I never heard of this disease before. I still would have adopted her, as no one else was going to. Someone just dropped her off at the vets frnt door in the middle of the night....obvioulsy washing their hands of the problem and expense. She was a bone when she first came here. Ihave managed to put some weight on her.

When I first adopted her, I was not told that she had this disease. i was angry at my vet for a long time afterwards....as I had Minxy home here only 1 day and knew something was wrong with her.....and of course, by then I had fallen in love with her and was not going to return her as they said I could.

Oh, good for you. I have done that too, where ever I have lived, getting strays homes. I spent 500 on my friends cat when he showed up. He was filthy, his eyes were shut with mucous because of having foxtails in them and he needed fixed. ------so what're ya' gonna' do? He lived for another 16 years!!

Spoke to my neighbr vet today, and she is only here on the weekends through Monday night. She has her practice in NYC, so she is not my vet, but a friend. She said that the canine teeth should be kept in and cats can live fine lives like this, so this was very encouraging to hear.

I will have to post photos here later...Need to go do the dog chore exercising thing, as tomorrow I may not be able to with another snow in forecast.

Hi, Scratcho, again! Here are two photos of Minxy...she is with my other female cat, Mewey, here, who is 15 years old. I had Mew ever since she was a kitten. She pees on the kitchen counter 2 or 3 times a day now.....scream! .....LOL...and here is Minxy on the TV box upstairs trying to keep warm...hey, that box is warm, and there is gentle Sullivan, the golden, who was the first here to fall in love with Minxy....or maybe he and I tied for that....

Well, poor Minxy's shots have worn off and she is screaming alot again....and so she has another vet appointment tomorrow, with an assessment now to see about removing teeth and how many....:(

My old parakeet, Ollie, is failing, as she is old....and I don't think she has much longer...after watching her in the cage today. Sunshine cannot even cheer her up, so i feel sad today.

Minxy had more shots today and is scheduled to get at least 3 teeth extracted the end of the month. The 3 teeth are very inflamed....and they will see if anything else needs to be extracted once they get in there.

Minxy cannot have anything after midnight tonight...so all water dishes have to be picked up, and no one will be getting water until tomorrow morning. She goes in the morning, to have her teeth extacted...Poor little thing. I worry until they come out of anesthesia ok.

I imagine I will need to give her antibiotics for a week or two, and wonder how the hell I am going to do that. Cannot get near her mouth.....Every day...some new challenge, I guess....ah, well....

Canned food rots cat's teeth... Better to only feed dry food.
