1981-12-09 Activity Center, University of Colorado, Boulder CO This show is great. The 1st set is good, the 2nd set rips with Scarlet Begonias> Fire on the Mountain> Estimated Prophet> He's Gone> Drums> Space> The Other One> Stella Blue> Around & Around> Good Lovin' I gotta call the 2nd set fire! Estimated into He's gone is ridiculous. While TOO has an AUD patch, and doesn't sound quite as good as it could, it finishes into a super nice Stella Blue. Superb! http://www.archive.org/details/gd81-12-09.sbd.clugston.13061.sbeok.shnf
that second set looks rocking....but why is it that they play Good Lovin at the end of so many great sets? i really don't like that song. i wish the last track of the set should have been "Playin in the Band" or if the gods were on all our sides "Born Crosseyed" encore "Morning Dew"
^I'd have to agree with you, Good Lovin' isn't one of my favs either. This version is pretty good though.
It was great to hear the "satisfaction". with bobby's cheesy little rant towards the end. awesome. Is Mickey playing congas in "space"? :bigear:
hey! i was at that oxford plains show in 88 and it f@#$ing smoked! yeah and jerry was unbelieveable and so was brent...so there! and sometimes in those 70's shows...donna screams like a freak'n banshee...i still love her though peas
Hey me too! That summer tour was unforgetable for me for the music and the trials getting to all the shows. Wow, it's hard to believe it's been almost twenty years since then.
definately alaska! i see alot o s@#t talk'n about the 80's shows on the web and it always bothers me cuz i was there and i witnessed the boys tear the roof off many times. can't believe it's been that long either....but then again i was just noticing a tiny lil line near my eye. eeeeekkkk! no grays yet though!
^I just checked out this great show: Halloween 91 definately tight jamming. flawless. but not as long. which shows should I check out that......go deep like in the 70's. if you haven't already you must check out http://www.archive.org/details/gd77-06-07.sbd.hollister-bode.24291.sbeok.shnf perfect throoo and throoo
My pick of the week is RFK 6/10/73. http://www.archive.org/details/gd1973-06-10.sbd.miller.89640.sbeok.flac16 Man, they sure played long shows back then.
i don't know why so many people are down on Donna Jean, i love her. she really helped define an era. great time when she was around. not saying she was the source, but she was part of a great run of music...
1990-03-29 with branford marsallis on sax. Some songs from without a net. 1990-07-12 another great RFK show. Awesome foolish heart. 1974-02-24 great morning dew and cool baby blue, didnt know they played em in 74.
Broome County Arena 11/6/77 amazing concert and setlist - im pretty sure you can get it for free somewhere - maybe nugs
i have a crazy story about that 7/90 show. my boyfriend and i walked all the way from the stadium up to the capital and took the little public tour while tripp'n. it was pretty funny cause when we got to the top of the steps the security said, "oooooo here comes the dead heads" it was extremely hot that day and on our walk back to the stadium we stopped to buy some soda from a vending machine outside of this little laundry mat. we needed change so we asked the little ol lady that was working there for change....and she bought us our sodas. she asked if we were in town to see "dem boys" we said yes and she said she wanted to show us something...we followeed her into the landrymat and she pointed to a heap of army dufflebags in the corner. she told us that she did their laundry everytime they came to dc. at first i didn't believe her but then she opened up one of the bags and pulled out this huge black t shirt....i mean what are the odds? so we touched the edge of jerry's shirt oooooooooooooooo! that was a great show...jerry came out and played guitar with edie brickell. we were so close to the stage on the floor and then right as the boys were coming out to play the tuneup song...i noticed my boyfriend was curling up into fetal postion on the ground....had to help off the floor and way up in to the seats....he was tripp'n balls to the wall...ah goodtimes good times!
yep...that was actually the first time i was allowed to do "tour" with my friends...we had just graduated from highschool. i actually caught the whole east coast...great shows...and a most excellent adventure
