A few more pictures of the lake yesterday. Too cold and stormy to go out to the lake today. Actually yesterday morning was miserable then the sun came out in the evening so I rushed out to the lake and caught the sunset. No go today though, it's been storming all day.
At the lake today. It was cold and windy, like a stormy sea. I had to don my toque and gloves! My walk was really brisk. They took away the purple martin birdhouses for the winter. At the lighthouse On the pier Sunset And some of my lakeside friends: Duckie (I'm so original) and her beau Dickie Gullie, all puffed up. I didn't get a pic of his paramour Gillie. ;-) And a new addition, my namesakes à la français, Lucie (Canada goose). Still no heron or moose making another appearance.
I headed on a new adventure at the lake today, a completely different area. Past the open waters on to a gorgeous wooded area. I spent a few hours walking around there exploring until sunset. going past the open area frothy waves a little cove where the water birds congregate the wooded area - a lot of pictures are taken here, particularly wedding photos
The rest... sunset colours on the way back home sumac (not sure what kind - I think this may be like yours Spiff, must be the type we have here)
Thanks. There were some fantastic trees and foliage. It was neat to go from the vast expanse of the open lake to the cozy shelter of the wooded area.
Lucy, those were some fantastic pics! Looks like you had an exciting adventure by the lake. Those little coves are gorgeous!
Thank you. Yes they are. So many winding paths and shortcuts among the close knit gnarly trees. It was neat, like a fairy tale forest. I almost expected to come across Witch Hazel's house. I should have brought a compass, I could have gotten lost! I kept putting out bread crumbs but the seagulls nipped them up faster than I could lay them down.
Yeah, those seagulls will chase after any food. You would have been safer leaving a trail of Witch Hazel's hairpins, she must have hundreds to spare the way they fall loose from her hair.
Ha ha! Good idea. The pins should be pretty safe from the gulls. Though those beasties will eat anything.
Pfff, you guys call those nice buds, here's a nice bud; even the pres is impressed; one bud, 3.25 grams
Uhhmmmm, isn't that how ALL buds are composed, smaller flowers coalescing into a large "bud", sure has been for the 40 odd years I been smoking. what you said really doesn't make any sense. but the bud in the pick is all on one stem, same as yours otherwise, nice bud, just wrap some huge shade leaves around it and make a cigar..LOL
noxious, your 1st pic kinda looks like a few smaller buds stuck or (slightly) pressed together. but in front of obama, it looks like one bud...so if it's the same bud, must just be the lighting in the 1st pic or something. i didn't take my pic for showing off the bud necessarily (although it is a nice bud...and i didn't weigh it) i more like to take pressed rat parody pics
