I grew this....and a whole bunch more

I love sunflowers. My dad grew them when we were kids. He'd put the heads on the roof of the stairs going to the basement and we'd (ok, I would) climb through the kitchen window onto the roof and sneak the seeds to eat. I still love raw sunflower seeds, no salt the best to this day.

I'm nibbling on raw sunflower seeds as we speak. In the shell. You have to eat them from the shell.

Yuck.. kelp.. the one thing I always hated on the beach.

 

Yes, it's tangled up bull kelp. It's usually floating around in big kelp islands. This has been washing around on the beach and lost it long streamer like leaves

 

Kelp is a great natural source of iodine, granted it isn't contaminated.

 

Thanks, I thought it looked familiar! I didn't recognize it naked. I've always seen kelp with the streaming leaves attached.
