Great shot! I've never seen so many females gathered together. It's usually a male and a female. Must be having a Tupperware party.

Judging by the pissed off parents that are indigent that we sit outside I'm guessing they are cardinals. But I'm not knowledgeable about birds.

Ah, you're right. So the redtops are the males. They're staying true to form, 3 pairs.

 

We drove out to Rub' Al Khali to do a little 4x4ing today. When I jumped out so my wife could take this picture, my feet burned.

 

beagles, i see you are from NY. i live in NY state, and don't recall ever seeing those birds. i do see a lot of cardinals around here though. the other day i saw SIX on my bike ride to work.

it was also cooler a couple weeks ago when the sun would set directly behind the lighthouse. didn't get a picture of that though.
