it's a steal beam that supports the el (bridge that the train goes over)

It also says no standing I think but I don't understand since it is a bus stop ....n/m I musts been high I don't see it saying no standing any more

 

I would imagine it is an Elevated Train track and the pipe is for drainage (when it rains) Possibly abandoned.

ace, it does say no standing. but "no standing" signs are referring to cars, not people. it means you can't park there, or even have your car stopped there and running for a minute.

also, do you have someone that follows you around everywhere and takes these pictures? i may have asked before...

Well, I just noticed a shadow to our right (looks like the person may have long hair - possibly female), so it might be another person taking these pictures.
I obviously have no idea what is in front of ace, so can't really say what the camera might be resting on.
It does not seem to be resting on another pillar.

He'll have to explain, I guess.
