Maybe you just assumed we would all recognize the movie quote. I still think it was logical for me to assume it was about the people we were talking about :p But hey, like I said my bad... :D

And sigh... when talking about the crusades I'm most of the time just straightening out how subjective and onesided they are now (generally) perceived. I am not defending the crusades ever and I certainly didn't here. We were talking about berserkers and then heathens and men with crosses get named.. seems not so strange to think you were talking about the scandinavian christianisation right. Then I merely say that the heathens were already there, not driven to that area and I get accused of defending the christian crusaders...!

you mean eyewitness accounts are discounted as visions of the imagination. How could it possibly be circumstantial hearsay when the subject matter being discussed across threads currently is the possibility that consuming psychedelic mushrooms gives one access to the creative power of the mind to inform matter.

    The Hashischins....

Would be a great name for a stoner rock band, no?

    It would.

There was a techno outfit a few years back called The Assasins of Sound.

Honoré de Balzac (who apparently was part of the club) makes for a good stonerrock bandname as well imo! :p Of course Balzac is directly associated with the word nutsack here in the netherlands so I imagine it would be pronounced something like honour the ballsack.... It fits perfectly with the current trend in bandnames (3 words instead of a solid name) :D

I would love to join an order like the Hashashin. Where do I sign?

at the dawn of time, man was nature, part, parcel, inseparably integrated whole.
then some men decided they could differentiate themselves from nature and other men, by getting other men to kill and die for them.
only then was the romanticizing of aggressiveness born.
