Yes, like those threads about Greenday or My Chemical Romance. I always get a bad feeling whenever I see them in the Rock 'n' Roll Forum .
Ah well, I let the hope go awhile ago that most 'rock 'n roll lovers' will put some effort in looking for the good stuff. As long as I know where it's at and the halls are filled when real rock is playing I'm happy.
Well, the good news is that most people outgrow listening to the bad "rock" and eventually start to look elsewhere to find good music. They at least find out about the older music. Not everyone does, though.
I'm not sure about that. I see a lot of people going from stinky 'rock' to metalcore and stuff like that as well. I wasn't only talking about the older rock, by the way! Just good psychedelic, hard and/or blues rock in general. They're still out there, mtv and consorts just seem to think they're not hip.
That is true. One of the reasons I recently got a spark of hope is because a few of my friends went from listening to complete crap to what is, in my opinion, very good music. Maybe I was a good influence on them .
Yeah well, I'm not saying metalcore is bad or something, despite the fact that I don't find anything nice about it, that's just my opinion. But I can't stand it that rock 'n roll lovers seem to see that kind of music together with the emo, indie and 'alternative to be alternative' rock (if you know what I mean) as the only and logical evolution of rock 'n roll..
I'd like to see less threads about annoying old dinosaur bands. People's obsession with the elder rockers is killing the bands of today who don't attach their lips to MTV's lubed up ass. If people did this in the 70's and 80's, we'd have never known those bands many people obsess over.
They probably do this because they don't know the new rock 'n roll shit, which just doesn't get a lot of attention in the media. Some of the old dinosaur bands on the contrary are wellknown (through parents, tv, popularity back then and even now, retro stuff, etc.) and thus easier to explore. And of course it was the birth of rock and it just was more pure then any popular stuff now. Most obsessions annoy me by the way, but since most of these bands and musicians truly are among the greatest of all time I find all these threads about them a lot less annoying then all the Greenday, My Chemical Romance, Korn and Slipknot threads. Especially if they're crowned as the new rock 'n roll generation. I see good music as a timeless thing by the way, so old music is just as worthy for discussion and attention as new stuff.
well i like alot of the new bands too, dont get me wrong.... like rose hill drive is good and von skinny.. check them out.. theyre good.. i just dont like all that shit about like idk those lame ass new bands
Haha, that sounds great: You like alot of the new bands, but not all those shit about the lame ass new bands. But no worries, it does makes sense! Actually, I feel the same . I like a lot of new bands too, but most of them aren't in the lame ass genres you get put to death with on tv with whiney voices and lyrics and no guitarsolo's at all. I checked the myspaces out of those bands you named and it sounds like no nonsense rock to me. Thanks for noticing them! That song of Von skinny even contains a nice guitarsolo. I see Rose hill drive plays at Graspop Metal meeting this weekend, so they're not on the wrong way neither . Some friends of mine are going there They didn't totally blew me away, but they don't sound like the lame ass stuff, allright. But you can't make a good judgement about the music of one or two myspace songs anyway. Anyway, nothing wrong with new bands! Nothing wrong with liking lame ass stuff neither by the way. It's just other peoples opinion that it's lame in the end. But if you like the good old rock 'n roll (real music!), don't forget that it's still out there
What has that to do with real music? Uh, I don't really dig them. But I can't see them as rock 'n roll neither.
haha yeah, von skinny and rose hill drive kinda sound the same... they are brothers or something....haha and well, dont get me wrong, i do listen to old music.. (real music) but sometimes i think its cool to see someone in concert who is alive and makes good music all at the same time... hahaha like for example i went to see john mayer the other day..... hes more of an alternative kind of guy, but still, his music blows me away sometimes... i have been to numerous von skinny and rose hill drive concerts... considering they are from boulder so its all good. i hope you have a wonderful day peace and love
Me too, there's lots of new real music around. I don't wanna miss out on my generation of good rock! Likewise! I'm gonna have a wonderful evening indeed , spend three days studying and had the exam this afternoon. Gonna get wasted tonight, ha!
