Which one do you think is more eco-friendly? Do you even care which one might be more eco-friendly? Which one will you choose and why? If you're undecided, here's an article with some discussion on the subject. The Best Kind of Christmas Tree Is . . . ?
The best kind of Christmas tree is no tree obviously. Eco wise at least. If one would make a fake Christmas tree last 50 years or longer I can imagine arguing for one instead of using a new natural tree every year.
One consideration with a live, cut tree is the transport of the tree from the field to the store you buy it at. Where we live, there are 4 Christmas Tree farms within 5 miles of us. That would make some difference.
My parents used to just get branches of evergreen and make a "tree" out of those. I think that's better than real or fake. I've never made one but I've seen "driftwood trees" and they're probably what I would go for if I wanted a particularly traditional shape of xmas tree.
^that looks nice, but I would miss the green That being said, I prefer real. Real tree smell is the best. Sure, it's messier and maybe more inconvenient that having a fake tree, but imo worth it. That being said, I am not really concerned which one is more eco-friendly, because I am a piece of shit that just really wants nice Christmassy atmosphere.
I like the potted trea idea from your link. But I wouldn't have anywhere to plant it. This is also kind of cute (Charlie Brown Christmas tree lol)
I’ve had real and there were bugs crawling through the limbs So I prefer fake now and you can find some realistic looking ones that are durable.
I've chosen cats over a tree. This year I'll hang ornaments, ribbons, and lights on a swag of artificial green hanging from the archway between the kitchen and the sitting room.
Lol, they would end up on the cats and floor if I didn't hang them high. Last year I wrapped an old wooden step-ladder in greenery and lights. I only put plastic ornaments on it and had to constantly pick them up from the floor and put them back on the "tree".
The can be made really adorable if you have enough rustic stuff to decorate them with. I found the idea on Pinterest.
