I have been a member of hip forums for a lot of years. Sometimes I get pissed and take time out but always decide to come back.
Years ago I was a particularly active member and this was like a home, an internet safe haven, call it what you like but it was a comfortable place to be.
Now I have decided that it is none of these things!
I am absolutely horrified to see penises and vaginas being used as avatars. I don't give a shit what peeps do and say: what I do give a shit about is it being on the front page of somewhere I frequent!
I am not prudish, in fact the very opposite, but I do believe that images, whether real, enhanced or even portray the user at all, have no place in my life.
I truly believe that sexuality is a very small part of what truly makes a person. Sensuality, compassion, courage, believe in humanity etc. are what are required to make a whole person not the size, shape or willing to use genitalia.
Personally, as far as vaginal displaying goes, it does absolutely fucking nothing to help with gender inequality at all and has no place here!
I also totally understand that revenue has to be generated to keep this place afloat and lets be honest sex sells but I want no part of it!

LOL, the internet is getting so insane that Google is working on AI that can dial everything up and down at will. If you want to filter out porn, not a problem. It would replace avatars with cartoons or whatever you prefer, and if people cuss or start attacking you it can make them sound more polite. Anything, so that people don't actually have to listen to each other when they talk. In fact, you can already buy augmented reality glasses, that will filter out things like the wino you pass on the sidewalk. I'm waiting for one that makes everyone look like Neo-Nazi Barbie and Ken.

 

Listening? Now there's a skill that truly is going out of fashion.

 

I'm writing a book on how to design bots that complete idiots will love to argue with all day long. It is designed for academics, but the contextual fuzzy logic allows anyone to use whatever lexicon they want, complete with whatever rhetoric they prefer. Half the time the academics seem to get the point, when I explain to them that I am not a bot myself, but designing them just for academics and anyone else who loves to argue. You can even sell both sides of any argument more advanced models, complete with the latest academically approved lie detectors and fact checkers.

 

I spend most of my time arguing with myself and most of my time coming to some sort of middle ground agreement so..............

 

After a lifetime of despairing that the human race simply makes no God damned sense whatsoever, I'm writing the book with the empirical evidence to prove it! Karma's a bitch and don't let anybody ever tell you otherwise!

You can run, but you cannot hide, and the sad truth is modern civilizations organize like a flock of chickens, making their rhetoric and complaints about as predictable as Newtonian mechanics or the weather depending on the Three Stooges slapstick involved. Existentialist angst is a measure of how much the flock enforces the idea everything must make sense.
