Yo to all! Just registered here after reading all this great advice about dreads.
I've had dreads for like just over a year now and lovin em more and more.

Anyway just did a treatment with this concoction, and yeah, my scalp feels nice and fresh and my locs clean. The water did not, I have to admit, rinse out dirty, hah so thats nice to know.

I started them kinda like just towel rubbin and stuff, then after it started matting a bit, did backcombing, and they've locked up nice since then. I use dreadlock shampoo and oils made by an aromatherapist/loctician Rastafari woman down here in South Africa, and her products are really ace. Her being a qualified aromatherapist plus loctician makes all her products smell fantastic. And her being Rastafari helps with other stuff too hehehe ;)

So yeah glad to be here with people who share my love and obsession with dreadlocks. Irie!

    Here's 2 pics

it DOES NOT wash right out
when u wax a car the wax repells water, wax is not water solulanble..at all it requires over 140 degrees farenheight to mely bees wax.

do not tell people to fuck up theyre dreads please
your welcome to fuck up ypur own if u want, but do not fuck up anyone elses

I washed my hair with that concoction, and I'm pretty sure I didn't get it all out. I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed. Yeah I don't really know how to thoroughly wash my "dreads" yet though.

did u mix it too thick?i always thought it was very ez to rince out

couple rincing tips fine sprays dont rince as good as a stringer flow so if u have 1 of the massage adjustasble showerheads use the setting with the most force..or fill up a bucket and dump it over your head a few times..

I just used this a couple of hours ago and my head feels really fresh. But my baby dreadies are only 18 days old now and I just wanna double check that its never too early to start using this. I plan on using this concoction from here on out exclusively but if its like everything else ive been using my head always seems to really itch only the night after I wash it and then it eases up as the week goes on. If that happens with this could I kick up the tea tree or should my head adjust to the treatments eventually.

Thanks for all of your support and tips. You guys have been great. :) And SoaringEagle, you always give great advice but that post up there was just mean. lol. It made me cringe a little but it def. got your point across. No Wax of any kind! Ever!!! Or SE will let you have it.

I have to agree. DirtyGypsy, that's just soaring eagle for ya!

Just chill soaring eagle. People are different, not all the same as you my dear. If people wish to use wax, by all means go ahead. I don't come back to the forums very often now because all I seem to read is 'don't do this, don't do that'. It's just hair!!!!! It's great to see advice, but it aint the law.

I used Aloe gel today to tame frizzies. I'll never ever ever ever ever ever put wax on my hair again!! And none of you ever should!!!

And FTR, I think SE's aggravation is more out of love. He's bummed every time one of is is screwed over and/or mislead with regards to dreads. Dreads are about freedom. They are free, and freeing at the same time :D Everyone wants to "do" something to help them or fix them and it's frustrating when people don't see that we are free from that kind of thinking when it comes to our hair. He just wants everyone to know the beauty of dreads, and I think he even mourns that for people who have dreads for the wrong reasons, or who are headed in the wrong direction.

    Right on SE, right on...

I used the deep clean recipe today and my dreads are so happy! I altered the recipe a bit: instead of plain hot water, I made a tea with rosemary & peppermint & nettles to help with itchies & dandruff.
My dreads are squeaky clean and smell yummy too....mmmm, peppermint.

I just wanted to add that I totally agree with Soaring Eagle about the evils of wax.
This is my second set of dreads. My first set was a disaster. I waxed my dreads lightly to tame the frizzies for the first 6 months. I also crocheted them, wrapped them and every other crazy scheme there is. They slowly formed into messy, mouldy, smelly abomnations of dreads. After almost 3 years I cut them off and discovered wax in the middle of all my dreads! This wax was still in there after 2 1/2 years!
This set of dreads is all natural baby! It took 2 years for them to form completely, but they look and feel and smell waaaay better than my first set.
When I compare my two experiences, my dreads took the same amount of time to form, but the natural dreads were better looking, cleaner and easier to maintain.

Last night I washed with the deep cleanse and even after rinsing for 30 mins. straight in various ways baking soda was still in my hair at the roots. It pretty much nested in there and I scrubbed and scrubbed trying to get it out but nothing worked. Im thinking its because I didnt use as much water as I usually do but still used 2 cups of baking soda so i think I over did it. So anyone know any good rinsing techniques to get it out, and is it ok to use the deep cleanse without the baking soda just mix the ingredients everytime and only use the baking soda every other wash?

2 cups is overkill i use 3/4 mixed in gallon or more
are u sure its baking soda though? that usuealyt foams up dissolvo9ng instantly in water
umm not sure what the last part memixiong teatree lemon sea salt and wayterJ? that most likely wont help clean al;l that much u can try it but the main cleanning ingredirent is the baking soda the rest are optional
and yes u should be mixing it up everytimne because the baking soda foams up and dissiolves its most effectivbe when used as soon as its mixed..i pour it in in the shower add the water swirl it a couple times with myt hand to be sure its all disolved (and no clumps are stifck to the bottom) then piur it oi within a minute or 2 of mixing
thats when its moset effective because a chemical reactions going on the baking soida combining with water causes all that bubbling that helps eat away at any grime and built up dru skin or whatever..
