Mine was very short - but then I had extensions put in so they looked ok - so unless you wanna look like bart simpson I would suggest waiting until your hair is around 3inches, or get someone elses dreadies sewn in!

if it's really short, i'd recommend just going natural. stop brushing your hair and it will dread up when it's the right length.

Hey I noticed you have a fringe that isn't dreaded. So do I but I think I'm gonna dread mine . . . it grows so bloody quick I'm sick of cutting it! I do have a big forehead though . . . : )

yeah, i had bangs before dreads and i like how i look with bangs so i kept them. i figure if they start bugging me, i'll just let them do what they want. for work and stuff, i like being able to pull some "normal" hair out from underneath my wraps.

quick question for you guys. I am required to have my hair pulled back for my work and I am working on the dreads. Will dreads work out this way even though i sleep 10 hours every day with my hair down?

so wats the deal with wax. I have only 1 month old dreads and i had 3 and a half inch black straight hair. I used teh backcombing method and have been waxin almost once a week. Should i stop using it or wat because some people say wax works and some say it is bad? They almost look like spikes is this bad or is it ecause they are short they are about 4 in now idk if they are doing good or not?? Thanx for the help:)

hey guys.. i would like to ask something..i've been wanting dreadlocks since i was 16 and im turning 20 now...darn..huhuhu..

anyway...can i just section my hair randomly and twist and rip or backcomb it?? wiil this be a major problem down the road?? cause it is pretty much a hassle to section my hair on my own especially at the back of my head..tried it and i sucks...

i have to do my dreads on my own cause no one around my college is willing to it for me..friends are too busy playing video games on their PCs..so ive been thinking f doing it on my own..

Hey guys, I am wanting to get some dreads. I dont know how long my hair should be, right now its about 4 or 5 inches long. I dont know how to wash them either when I do get them. I dont want my dreads to be really thick like i have seen but just in between small and thick. Should i wait for my hair to grow longer before i grow dreads or just do them now? dont know how it will turn out with shorter hair though [IMG] lol

edit- i also wear a beanie some times, will that affect anything?

My hair is not small kinky african style, but I am half african american, and my hair is somewhat in a slightly larger curly type of afro. My hair is such that if I grew it out, it would more grow out into an afro rather than hang down like caucasion hair. [IMG] my hair is kinda a mix between a jewfro and an Afro, except im black lol.

I would like to use the twisting method, but I have heard this is only for tight kinky african type hair. I would like to know what method is best for my hair type.

Does anyone have pic's of straight natural (neglect) dreadlocks? I don't like the word neglect... I would like to see some. That means little or no backcombing.
