I wouldn't worry hon. They'll grow again. Most dreads will shrink before they really start to grow. Just part of them getting all knotty.

    *hugs*

Mine have gone totally loose. Loose hairs all over the place, sticking out of my scalp and my dreads, and the roots are coming undone. I think it's mainly because I've been really really tired for the past two weeks or so and just haven't had the energy to do anything but sit around or fall asleep.

I don't have any pictures at the moment but I'll try and get some.

    a quick question.

do dreads feel rock hard.. because when i squeeze my dreads they feel like squeezing a metal rod

soo are dreads meant to be spongy??

also when i backcomb they go knotty but you can still see the lines of where the comb was. is there ant solutuion??

    thank you!!!!! :)

wikkid thanks! I will def. post some pics... also I was wondering if its good to tie up your hair. I always wear mine in high pony tail and sort of spike them out, it doesn't hurt my scalp at all, but it does leave little kinks. I really hate wearing them down too, sort of makes my head look like a weird shape....

but the only problem with them being tight is that they are not flexible enough. they are just stiff even though the are aprox 22 inches long!!!

and also they still have the lines on the outside of the comb but inside the dread its all knotted!!

also its did hurt when i did them!! i put all my strength in backcombing.. not only did its hurt my head but my hands were sore after..trust me dont do what i did!!! lol

NO BANDS! NO RUBBER BANDS! keep your locks apart by going through your hair and separating it with your fingers. Sometimes this hurts, but it's necessary.

those little kinks are what make's dreaddies look great. It's their personality showing. :) I never use hair bands to tie up my dreads, always the dreads themselves. I think it gives em an 'organic' look. :daisy:

Hey guys! Im new to this forum and need help starting my dreads off.
I decided after a long chat with my friends that i would get dreads, but my parents still dont like them!
Bearing in mind i have about 4" hair and it hurt especially down the sideburn area's......
Anyway, ive backcombed 75% of my hair till its well notted and feeling real nice :)
Ive ordered dread wax from dread hq to wax my dreads but do you have any other advice that will help me grow them into beautiful locks?
I havent found any shampoos that dont have residue in yet, do you know of any?
Ive had my dreads in for about 1.5 weeks, should i use wax now?
    Thanks for any responces.
    Many Thanks
    Alex

wow wow wow slow down!!!! DONT USE WAX! BAD BAD BAD! NO WAX! GOT THE MESSAGE??

WAX IS VERY BAD IT DOESNT LET YOUR HAIR GROW INTO DREADS LIKE IT SHOULD IT JUST GLUES IT.

good hope you have the message. if you want good shampoo for dreads try dr bonners. or just use other things. i wash my hair with warm water mixed with sea salt, pure lemon, cider vinegar and baking soda.

look around these forums and read through the stickies they will save your dreads man.

main thing- DONT USE WAX DUDE...good

goodluck man and post some pics up for us to see...ayee

Hey thanks for the quick response , check out my gallery or sig. for a start photo (bearing in mind the photo was a day after i put them in)
    will keep you updated.
Can i ask what does wax do thats bad?
What can i use instead of wax? on those lil stray hairs and stubborn dreads?
    Thanks
    Alex
