whenever i see someone littler, i just say "i smell a litter bug!!" really loud/cutely.. if they don't hear me, or if they just ignore me, I'll pick it up myself. Don't get angry, be positive, and people will usually react nicely, and hopefully do what you want <3. you know?
I live in WI too....Green Bay IS really bad. REALLY bad. I hate going there, it just irks me, just driving down the road you see all these floating bags...ughhh I haven't been there in a few years now...But, don't give up Alden. Keep writing. Keep pushing.... fuck, I'll help! I don't live in GB but I am still a Wisconsin citizen so I give a shit lol PM me if you want any help or ideas or anything And in the meantime do what you can to pick up any trash you see!!!!
I saw a shirt one time I wanted but it wasn't in my size... Anyway, it said "If you litter, the only real trash is you".
I was watching a documentary on the Sahara desert the other day, I was surprised to hear that the only "modern" human innovations found in the desert are plastic shopping bags floating around.
The worst litterers around here are the ciggarrette butt flickers,,,,,they actually do more work to litter than it would be to put them out in their ashtray.. they roll down their windows and wham,,,there goes the butt starting all the damn fires weve had here
I live in a pretty nice neighborhood...and yet every day there's some new piece of litter on the ground. Most of it is from lazy or unthinking kids, I'm sure, but I wonder if there are people out there who litter just for the sake of littering. I've started a new hobby of birdwatching...and it's so hard to capture those little devils in focus that I started taking photos of litter instead - much easier to focus! http://thethunderchild.com/Hobbies/Blots.html I *could* upload new photos daily, but now I'm at the point where I'm looking for "unique" or "egregious" litter...so I upload new photos once a week, now. Nevertheless, if you'd like to check it out...just goes to show that slobs are everywhere.
I just saw this man walk into an alley and throw some wierd bag inside and when I looked inside it was a kitty all mutilated, eyes scooped and such and rotten. I saw this on my way home from school. I am sad and scared.
It bothers me too to see people throw trash on the ground not far from a trash can. I started asking people who do this to please put it in the can. Surpisingly they did.
Are you people insane? Okay, I don't litter, I don't encourage people to litter, and I don't enjoy seeing litter. But cleaning up after people's litter out of self-righteousness is just retarded. Throwing your trash in the garbage makes no difference then throwing it in the woods or on the side of the road. In fact, it's less economical and worse for the environment if you're encouraging the waste management system. All the garbage cans are picked up by large vehicles that waste millions of gallons of oil every week, taken to a landfill and buried under a bunch of dirt that threatens the ground water supply in the area. Now tell me, which is more detrimental to the environment? A pile of trash sitting in a field because it doesn't look "pretty", or a giant valley full of trash decomposing in the sun, threatening to harm the health of the community?
shit like that in NY is fucking rediculous man, people live in an indifferent world too bad, they're missing so much
its insane how some people treat our world. dont they realize what they are doing. Whenever i see people litter i always pick it up and hand it to them and say "you dropped this" sometimes they say they know but most of the time they are so embarrased they just go throw it away.
Gah! I just picked up 5 pop cans, a bunch of candy bar wrappers and 2 2 litre pop bottles off my lawn. Does my front lawn look a like recycling and trash bin? The other day the cops pulled over a pedestrian for throwing shreads of paper onto the street and fined him $120 for litering on city property. $120 is a bit harsh, but man, some idiots need a lesson.
You probably wouldn't find the amount of that fine so harsh, if you looked into what the city where you live, spends on litter clean up annually. Check out some programs like this in Canada. I even have an empty film container I carry in my pack, so I can put my butts in there if there isn't a container handy. I spend about 5 1/2 hours a day several days a week on trains and buses. Most of them are totally trashed out with food wrappers ad newspapers. Well....at least I always have reading material.
In elementary and junior high school I organised garbage pick-ups with the few kids who would help about once a week. Eventually though, I just was getting beat up for things like that so much that I stopped - at school anyway. There were a bunch of guys who littered whenever I was around "so I'd have something to pick up". I DON'T WANT TO PICK UP YOUR CRAP! Those people... grr.
my city doesn't seem to be too badly littered however everyone drives so its still pretty fucking polluted.
I'm surrounded by people like that... Whenever they litter I've got to pick it up cause "ils s'en calissent'' (mich means they don't give a fucking fuck).
it pisses me off too. i pick up where ever i can, but it seems that no matter how much you try to help the mess keeps piling up doesnt it. really shows you how much they care for Mother Earth doesnt it.
