chinese looks like an alien language or something. i bet its super hard to learn too. it sure looks it. any language that doesnt use this alphabet looks hard really.

 

Yeah...It does look very difficult......4,000 characters to memorize....wow.....that is quite something. I admire anyone who learns all of it.

Knowing 4000 characters, you will still struggle to read a newspaper or books. And nothing is more frustrating than using a Chinese dictionary.

if you had a computer that could guess a trillion keys per second, it would take that computer ten million trillion years to try every possible 128bit AES key. the best crypto attacks against AES reduce the keyspace by about a power of 2, so 5 million trillion years. statistically though you're likely to find the key about half way through the haystack ... so 2 million trillion years roughly, and that's being generous

im sure the NSA has crypto ASICs that make AES rounds a lot faster but its still asking a lot to get the time down to a feasible length. so everybody who thinks the NSA can decrypt every encrypted message on the planet on the fly can continue to wear their tinfoil hats. DISCLAIMER: this doesn't speak about the safety of any particular implementation.

do you know chinese? knowing 4,000 characters would be roughly equivalent to knowing 4,000 different chinese words?

yes, i can imagine the dictionary would be intimidating.

how do you "sort" something in chinese? in english a comes before b, b before c so you can sort it that way, makes it easier to look things up. it would be hard to look something up in an english dictionary as well if it wasn't sorted, you'd have to pretty much look at every single thing until you found what you were looking for and it'd take forever (or not get done at all).

 

Conversationally, but my wife is fluent. I can read about 2000 characters, and write about 500.

The dictionary is ordered by "number of strokes in the character" and radicals (common parts of written words). It is not pleasant trying to find something. For me or her. Hell, they have dictionary competitions in Chinese high schools.

its the psychofans who make the whole celebraty bullshit concept. i suppose some people might get a stick up their ass because they know they're unusually well known or something, but that's really, i think most people would be surprissed how much of an exception that really is. without the makeup and the context, most of them could be anybody you don't know at the bank or the supermarket.

the idea of celebraty and the big deal people make about it, THAT annoys me. i think people are just dumb or conned, to do so.

 

would certainly be if it were my own to do so. america seems to have a 'traditional cultural value' of thoughtlessness.
(which so called conservatives seem to think it improves the world to force on everyone else by military violence as well)

 

I am going back to painting on a regular basis...am never happier than when I do...Now, that I am set up again, since my mom died.....I am taking the day off though from lack of sleep and heartbreak.....but those paint brushes are calling me and loudly again.....

 

Six weeks time off from work starts today.

I'm stoked.

 

So How Do You Intend To Spent Those 6 Weeks...... ...???
