I'd call you a bastard, except for one minor detail.

We got the water cistern filled before the pump went again... we'd have water for another couple of days. I expect to have another pump hooked up and running tomorrow sometime.

Nope, not a single speck of snow at the moment... neither on the ground, nor hovering magically above it...

 

I slept in.....Tom, have you ever seen those rampumps? I always wanted to try a rampump to pump water from my pond up to the garden tank....;-)

 

Not just seen them, but built one to play with years back...

Something to keep in mind... You lose a lot of water out of the pump itself and your set up has to have a way to drain that water away.

The biggest problem with them (and the reason I can't use one here) is that you need a drop from the water source to the pump to start the whole process...

I figured you had tried that out!.... You seem to be the tinker with things kinda guy..... I may try to build one too, I have a pretty good drop I can use to get it started and plenty of space for draining....

A pump that pumps water steadily, all year round, with no artificial power source and will last for decades?

The first time I heard of them (mother earth news) was when I was a kid... 10 or so... one of my jobs was carrying water... I saw the beauty of them instantly... lol

 

You dang hippy!... I still get mother earth news. Have you ever been to the web site instructables? It has all kinds of interesting fix-it videos.
I need to hear more of your homestead!...;-)
