    It's about time....

    __________________________________________________

The wood furnace will have a stainless loop in the firebox, (factory add on part) I have it but can't install it until the rest is hooked up or it will burn out. The loop heats water that goes to this storage tank and it will continuously heat the water in the tank as long as there is a fire going. The "tank" is a 50 gallon water heater that I stripped the gas burner out of. It feeds through the blowoff/pressure relief valve port up top/side... blowoff valve is mounted remote in the hot pipe, there's actually going to be two of them... this water gets !&#$@%^ hot. The bottom of the loop is connected where the gas thermocouple/temp sensor used to be. Some people use the drain valve port, my drain valve remains as was original. I mounted the tank high so the loop will cycle the hot water into the tank without a pump... Hot water rises, feeds the top of the tank, cooler water at the bottom of the tank goes back into the loop for more heat. It's called thermocycle or thermosiphoning.

This hot water is going to be pumped through the remaining radiators in the master bedroom left over from the dead boiler system. Hookup for that is through the normal hot output (send) and cold input (return). Return also hooks to the cold water supply with a backflow preventer valve in case of water loss. The hot water pump for this part of the system sits in the return line, just like a boiler system would. Not sure if I'm gonna get a new pump or use one of the old boiler pumps. (I have 4 of them)

The loop I bought is actually a "knockoff"... Instead of the original factory "made in China" stuff I bought one from some guy in Maine that makes them from better stainless and supplies all the needed hardware for less money... It's a quality piece.

No pics yet because it's not built... I had to get the tank installed in the room before I get my new water heater next month... There would be no way to get it in there after. I still have to replace all the plumbing in this room with copper before I get the new heater. New water heater is gonna be 80 gallons. Can't wait for that first long hot shower... :D

I have been my Dad's driver since 2012. I have to show up on time and get him places he needs to go. I will likely replace the battery so I can keep on showing up on time.

Seems the norm for plumbers to think solder is like glue... The more you slop on there the better it is.
