my friend is an atheist (as am i) and sometimes i wonder if she needs all this elaborate system of ethics because she dont have the dogma of religion... i know i sure don't need either one.

 

If she needed an elaborate system of ethics because she lacks dogma, why would you, also lacking dogma not need the elaborate system of ethics?

 

If you haven't learned yet not to let others actions that have nothing to do with you upset you then I don't know what to tell you. Go ahead and say ****** all you want if it makes you happy, I really don't give a fuck. But I wouldn't give you the time of day IRL.

 

not all people are the same.

you assume i get upset because some black people use the word ******.. no actually i don't. first of all its not just the actions of individuals.. its culture and society as well. i just don't think it should be taboo for me to use a word that i am surrounded by.

 

I was raised in the south, but was lucky enough not to be raised like most people my age which was to be bigoted and racist. I never heard the n word until I went to school and had to ask my mother when I came home what it meant. And no, I do not use that word, nor will I.

I find it sad that racism is still alive and well. Perhaps when your generation has grandchildren, it will have died down some. I certainly hope so.

Furthurmore, I find it degrading to white people that use it. I don't view it as degrading to black people that call themselves that just like I can talk about my mother but nobody else better!

 

i will say i have turned 180 degrees on this subject.

i used to never use the word. i even had a couple of bosses when i worked that used the word and at the time i was absolutely repulsed that they would do such a thing.

at another (different) place i worked... i had a coworker i worked most closely with that was black. in my young idealistic years i had the reputation among several coworkers that i was staunchly anti-racist... i had not been getting along with my black coworker because of laziness and selfishness among other things on his part and finally another seperate coworker had to pull me aside and i shit you not his exact words were "i know you're not prejudiced and all that, but i hate to tell you that so and so is nothing but a ******" it was a little tiny bit of a revelation. this is just one tiny example in a long narrative of my experiences overtime.

i don't know any specifics of what changed, but i guess experiences overtime have shaped the outlook i have now.

so basically everyone who thinks im a piece of shit or a racist or whatever.... i have been in your shoes before. i understand completely.

 

wake up and smell the coffee. the word ****** is EVERYWHERE. yeah sure black people can call themselves ****** all they want to but they aren't doing themselves any favors in doing so. once again its not just individuals... hell i was at a university field day and the fucking school radio dj was playing shit with the word ****** in it over the whole crowd at high decibel.. oh but lets not me or you ever use it. ok

 

Where I work there are more black people than white. Every now and then I hear them call each other that...but it seems to sound like they end the word with an a rather than the er. ANYWAY, as far as work situations go...I have always gotten along with blacks better overall than with whites - females especially. lol

i will add tho that i think the argument of nigga being acceptable and ****** being unacceptable is bullshit.. especially if someone says "oh well black people don't even use the word ******" like its some law... not true at all

also its highly unprofessional for your coworkers to do that at work no matter where you work although you did say its just sometimes so i guess its not that bad.

i'm not going around belligerently using the word i'm just saying i'm not going to bar it from my lexicon as some taboo even if its just in the capacity of repeating a song lyric as my friend would not do or while i'm angry talking about the black dude who tried to jump me in the street.

 

It took the music industry about a decade of highly calculated hard promotion to sell that stupid shit to the GP... the sad thing is, people, and I mean largely white people bought it.
Plenty of black people are just as offended by it as not...

 

Yeah it's still likely a generation or two away from completely breaking the cycle. I'm hopefull. Science has proven the idea of separate races is false. We are all ultimately from the motherland, Africa. We all share the same blood. :cheers2:

Everywhere I go in public, whether its at work at McD's (where, as you can imagine, there is much traffic) or just out shopping, I see more obviously mixed race children than "pure"...which I absolutely agree that at this point in time there is no way anybody is "pure" anything.

I've been trying to get my brother to get the DNA test done to see what it tells about our heritage (he has the funds to do expensive and unneeded stuff), as far as where in Africa we descended from and what all our blood has to say. I watched the Today show a while back where this was discussed.

 

here i am sitting in my room listening to all these black bands most of the night. jimi hendrix my favorite musician since i started listening to music. and today asked friend to set me up with her black friend... yeah i'm totally racist. i mean come on. i knew a racist fucker who wouldn't even eat okra because it comes from africa. i have known people that didn't like jimi hendrix because he was black. ok im going to bed to get some racist sleep.

I've never been a ****** nor acted like one.
When I'm serving food I give large portions, when I eat at a restaurant I tip well, and I tip the driver who brings me my weed.
