I just finished my third day of training to work on an intel (the computer people) construction site. Looks like I'm not going to the mine in California after all.

If you do ANYTHING unsafe, or anything against their rules there, they will kick you off the site for two years min. Lifetime in most cases. No warning given either. They'll just take your badge and slam the door on you as you're showed the way out. And it's a worldwide ban on you from all intel sites (anywhere) also.

They even tested me for alcohol in my system (consumed within the last 24 hrs.) when I showed up for my first day for training. Not just for drugs.

Three people were kicked out of training for nodding off and one for texting (the very first day of class).

I'll be working 60 hour weeks, starting next week.

This is how my first day will start: Once in the designated parking lot, hands will be at the 10:00 and 2:00 position on the steering wheel (or at least visable anyway), safety belt on! No talking on the cell phone unless it's a hands free phone.

Park anywhere wrong and you're outta there. They even have photo radar guns for speeders, and you have to make COMPLETE stops at stop signs. No warnings, you're outta there on the first offense.

On a lighter note.. they won't ban you from working there for a traffic violation. You'll just get banned from the parking area.

The next nearest parking is around 3 miles away in a shopping center.

I'm soo looking forward to working at intel now. lol.

That's ridiculous! Are you sure this is worth the hassle? I mean, do they do ritual beheading for sneezing or something?

 

I install HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning).

 

It's all there is for me right now. My company has invested allot in my training, so I need to at least give it a try.

BTW, they have a 'buddy system' there. I have to be with my designated buddy for the first thirty days, at all times.

This person has to have been there for 30 days (at least) to show me the ropes.

He (or she) even has to accompany me to the bathroom. But they don't have to actually be inside with me while I'm in there.

 

Intel is one of the handful of companies worth 550 billion dollars or more at any time.

Yes, they actually pay extra for the added safety measures, like the buddy system.

Someone was found hours after quitting time in a bathroom in an epileptic coma. That's one of the reasons why they implemented the buddy system.
