We have them here. My son has one that litters the ground with those balls. Sometimes you have to sweep them from the pathway just to be able to walk.
good...i have the sap boiling down pretty good atm.....4 pots and a steel pan fit nicely on the woodstove outside......boarder/welder is making me a couple custom trays to fit exactly overtop the stove for next year.....also building a shack to enclose the stove....right now i have it partially enc;osed just poured 5 8 ounce mason jars out of yesterdays boil....i'm up to about5ish liters finished syrup and enough sap to go 2 more days at least
By time I get enough free time to tap Maple trees for syrup my Maple trees will be largely gone... Except for the young ones that are slowly replacing the old beat to shyt ones. In other words... I won't be making syrup.
Gorgeous day here. Bad tooth flaring up. I had to make a run to the middle school; granddaughter had feminine hygiene needs. I had to shave my legs...again! I hate that. I wish my family wouldn't die of embarrassment if I walked around with hairy legs all Summer. Other news....Oh, the neighbors dog escaped...again but I alerted him and he rounded the dog up. That's it. That's all I've got.
Hardwood is in, woodcrib is 3/4 full... should get me through a couple of days. Now I need to go process some pine for fire starter. Also created a widowmaker.... Good times.
no one burns pine here...they are full of beetle grubs and dirty up the chimney quick...plus barely any heat
i buy zippy cubes....easy starting......i'm lazy and hate keeoing paper around...i recycle it i have the boiling sap bubbling up good
Here's a tip for a bad tooth. Chew raw garlic and hold it in your mouth where the tooth is. It's...exhilarating!
Big Walnut tree fell in last night's or this morning's storm.... Ground is so wet it just ripped it out by the roots. Of course it's hung up in other trees.
Haven't been posting much lately. Still alive, still doing the same shit, etc. etc. Super fascinating, I'm sure. Not much changes in my life.....as a general rule. But I have still been eating right and working hard. Endurance/obstacle/mud races start pretty soon. This will be the first year that my daughter runs. I'll run the long race on the first event the day before and then run her race (2-3 miles shorter) with her the next day. I'm thinking of trying to get my boot camp crew on board for an afternoon slot on the first day. But that would mean I have to run the long race twice on the first day but it would be worth it to see some of these people finish something like this. I would be honored to cross the finish line with them.
If you can run all that in one day, do it! You don't want to be old one day, looking back, wishing you'd done stuff.
To be honest....I think with a group, you are only going to go as fast as the slowest person so I think doing it the second time on day one and even the next day with my daughter isn't going to be very tough. I think they will be fun.
