We are full on in Spring here. Bees and wasps are out. Trees and shrubs are blooming. Flowers are coming up from bulbs. We will have Blackberry Winter like we do every Spring, but Spring has already sprung here.
We had a fairly chilly day here today but it probably only seemed like that because it's been so nice lately.
Went to the cemetery yesterday. Four daffodils are out. The others are somewhat smaller with no blossoms yet. Might get some snow today. The primrose are still in bud. Maybe they will wait till it gets warmer again.
car display kept saying door was ajar...but it was dim not bright like when the door is open so i suspected wiring issue looked online and sure enough its a common problem saved myself tons of troubleshooting by checking the car forums...it was a corroded connection in a tricky spot that probably would have taken weeks to find instead of 5 minutes
i went and visited hot divorcee and had some more irish coffee.....had to cross and get gas.....they are movoinfg the ferry to the summer dock on monday.yay..saves time and gas...plus its right beside stiore for easy coffee access
I saw a truck today with the license plate "BEBAD". I kind of got a little chuckle out of that. I would have taken a pic and posted it if it was BBAD instead.
In other news, I may have made a new friend today. (I'll try to keep this short but no promises). It's a Palistinian exchange student who my wife knows through work. Evidently, she is having a bit of a rough time with her host family. It's kind of a long story but it just isn't a very good fit and it isn't anyone's fault but it's kind of a crappy deal. You travel halfway around the world and then basically do nothing but go to school. We took her to the city for dinner at a great place. It was the first food she's had since she got here last fall that really reminded her of home. Excellent place to eat. We go there often so it wasn't really an imposition for us at all. We also took her to some other places.....like.....she'd never seen an average American shopping mall! It was like....you really want to go check out a mall? Ok....that's fine. Let's go check out the mall. I was in awe of all of the things she's never done or seen. You've seriously never gone kayaking? We're definitely planning on taking her kayaking before she goes home. And then there was the discussion of politics, foreign policy, etc. I'm not known for sugarcoating my opinion behind closed doors. I was basically like "This is how things are and how they work in this region. If you live in the West, it is very unlikely that you will know this based on our media." I looked at her after I was finished with my little diatribe and she looked like she was almost in tears. She looked at my wife and daughter and said "He's right about everything he said and he's the first American I've ever heard say those things. I never expected to hear that!" She had such a fun time and we did as well. She is a great person and my daughter even commented later on how much different she is compared to many 17 yr old girls around here. I used the opportunity to explain to her that kids are raised with different influences in different parts of the world. Some kids don't give a fuck about Kim K's newest ass measurements or who the newest pop star is. In conclusion, this girl actually made my wife and I consider what kind of people we might be for hosting students like her. Without putting any fault on anyone....this particular girl would clearly be happier if she were with us. But the nice thing is that she's looking forward to doing more things with us. That may even be a relief to her host family who have a lot on their plate. I think maybe the best thing may have been for her to be able to feel like she was with people who understand her and have the time to dedicate to her experience. I hope to have some intelligent, in-depth conversations with her.
spent the last 8 hours cutting down a 60 foot oak tree that i have been eyeing for 4 years......buddy came over drunk yesterday and told me to help myself....we did not waste any time....went and borrowed hot divorcees 800 canam atv and neighbors trailer and we stripped that fucker and brought it home....i am exhausted, sore,, mutilated my shin and knee....afraid to look at it cause it feels wet.....but i have a shit load of oak,,,,half dead and half green for next year
I wish I had a shop that is bigger than my woodworking shop. I've always wanted to restore something like an antique tractor. I love old engines and machinery. Just watched a great show last night about people who have been restoring old tractors for many years.
I still have a Cub Cadet taking up more than 1/4 of my garage.... I know, not an antique, but it still takes up needed space.
First day of spring and it was nice and sunny. I have been in a funk the last bit so stayed to myself, that way everyone gets to live.
I'm sick. My stomach starting hurting last night. It hurt all night and has hurt all day. Had to visit in-laws. I was hungry despite the stomach ache so I ate. Bad idea. My stomach pain got more and is accompanied by really sick feeling - some nausea. Hubby gave me a pain pill on the way home. I got to thinking it might be a diverticulitis flare because a ate a kiwi fruit several days ago. I drank metamucil when I got home. The pain, nausea, and sick feeling subsides for a few minutes but it keeps coming back. I feel really sick. Lying down didn't help last night. I don't know if I'll try it now. Fuck, I'm miserable y'all.
