I always feel that I overuse smileys to make sure there's some sarcasm or other attempt at humor in there. or that it is ment lighthearted. Sometimes it is just better to let people figure it out themselves. They might feel the urge to ask for explanation but that happens when they're added as well so...

she didn't know there was a dutch colony....

i was just outside chipping ice away from the sidewalk....a lady pulls up right beside me in a Mercedes suv and stares right at me for about 15 seconds....but did not open her window....i shrug at her in the international symbol for ''what the hell do you want''...with a smile



she parks in a spot just past me and gets out of her car

now mind you we are right beside a school...so close i cant even smoke outside the door here....so i am thinking this is a teacher or parent or something...i dunno


i say to her as she walks towards me ''you're looking at me like i stole your purse lady.....are you ok?''

she looks me up and down and up and down the only properly shovelled walk on the street and she says ''who told you to do this nice job?'' in a thick Portuguese accent

right away i thought ...this is the boss.....

and it turns out she is the landlord....nice lady.....she said i was very nice grandfather

 

Technically it isn't a colony (anymore, and I also doubt it ever was a colony in the original sense of the word as dutch people settled there later)

But in colonial times there was a dutch colony in Brasil that pretty much every brasilian seems to know about. Globally though the portuguese colonisation of Brasil is of course the only one known (for obvious reasons). 'We' dutchies got Suriname later as a permanent colony, I think the dutch got that in the same exchange with the english in which we lost New York.

 

I am starting to feel like I am staring in a horrible episode of House. I seem to be accumulating more doctors than I know what to do with and each has a very different thought on what is going on.

I think I mixed to much drying agent in some paint. whoa whoa I got the huffing paint blues whoaaa whoaa.

 

Wether they are ugly or not I hope they are at least as capable, Heat. I actually don't know what that means because I never watched House and so don't know if he was any good at his job

 

He was a brilliant doctor but on the nutty side. Not sure where mine fall on the scale yet.

I am just feeling rather frustrated at this point but I also know that eventually it will get solved and that will be a good thing.

He doesn't know how to use a cane properly. That distracts me so much.

 

I agree Aeri. You would think with a doctor show that they would use a cane in the proper way. Oh well.

 

Oh, there was this stuff like eyedrops they sold me at the health food store when one of the kids at the school where I worked gave me pinkeye (Egads--it was a nightmare...and the stuff didn't work, but whatev)
maybe some nice gentle eyedrops can help you. I'm jumping in mid-conversation here, so I apologize if you already covered eyedrops earlier. hope you feel better!! I think the stuff they sold me was something like colloidal silver spray, but that may not be good for what you have. It did feel nice & refreshing in my eyes though!
