Piper is staying at the vet today. She needs xrays to determine the extent of her knee injury. It's not really getting much better. They have to anesthetize her to get the xrays.

 

I haven't gone to pick up Piper yet but my daughter spoke to the vet and she said that Piper does need the surgery and that she is also developing arthritis in the other leg.

Piper is going to have her own fundraising page for this.

 

It's true that every safety rule can't be absorbed in a day but....as a foreman or supervisor...it is your job to make sure people aren't doing things they aren't qualified to do. For starters, you never, ever use your foot to push branches into the feed wheels. If they didn't even take the time to tell him that, they clearly shouldn't have felt like he was qualified to run that machine. On top of that....even if he was trained and tested and then just broke the rules.....there is no excuse for having someone with his experience running that machine by himself. Had there been another person there, that person could have pulled the bar (which is accessible from any direction around the chipper) to instantly reverse the direction of the feed wheels. Had this kid been at least minimally trained, he would have known that the reverse bar is easily in his reach as soon as he even thought he may be in trouble. That makes it even sadder.....he could have saved himself if he was trained properly.

I know people are in a hurry, time is money, etc but this is not a job that you hurry at.

 

Awww poor Piper. I am sorry to hear this as I was hoping the kennel rest and alternative treatments would have helped more.

 

does this mean those treatments the dog went through were for nothing?...

The laser treatments might have helped, I don't know. They certainly didn't help enough though.

 

Poor pup.

 

I didn't let our boy in all night. And he wasn't happy and as soon as I let him in he pounced all over me and licks and licks and I just had a shower. Berr.

We had one cat in particular, a tannish colored one, that like to lay in front of the kerosene heater. We started calling him a baking potato.

I had a white Angora named Wraith (W was silent and missing) that would fall asleep under the woodstove... He really liked to be warm I guess.

 

Damn it.

I had a day last week where I felt like crying for no particular reason; and now again tonight.

I should go watch Hulu. It will either make me laugh or make me cry.

There was nothing of the usual fluff to watch on Hulu so I'm watching Ancient Aliens. It's about the Pyramids.
