weather was nice here today

i hope it sticks around...weekend is supposed to be warm and sunny ...they are calling for a mild el nino winter and i hope its true but warm usually means tons of snow (which im willing to deal with because i just cant stand another -30 -40 winter)

Daughter's girlfriend update.

She went yesterday and turned herself in. My daughter stayed and bailed her out. They were there about 2 hours.

She will be mailed a court date.

 

Was she "texting" the dog she said she swerved to miss?

 

they have her cell phone record and matched it up to the airbag deployment or the computer record of the crash...they can even tell if the phone was activatedright before and even if she was typing if she had a good phone

she may want to plead it

 

most people have no idea how much info that airbag module contains....its similar to the data recorders in airplanes

 

you cant lie with a new car any more...and cell phone data...when I am texting back and forth with any other person with an apple product I see 3 little dots to show me the person is actively responding...I would think all the carriers have the key punch time info as well

 

I'm usually driving when I'm driving. Occasionally I'm bitching at people that are using their phones.

 

I'm glad she wasn't charged with fleeing.

 

If I were her, I would find out how the local preliminary court date process works and request the very next available court date.....like...in two or three days, if possible. Letting it draw out for a month or two...or three....it doesn't really help the defendant. It makes you feel better because you don't have a court date for a while but you still will eventually have that date and you have longer to have to think about it. And they have longer to build a case against you. Requesting the earliest date possible won't hurt you and may help because if the police don't have the proper paperwork filed with the court in time....your case may be dismissed. I've seen it happen. If it doesn't happen, you still have plenty of time before a trial or plea deal.

To be clear...we aren't talking about her trial date. This will be her preliminary summons to court to simply answer to the charges. Tell her to do it asap. Sometimes people are lazy about paperwork and it pays off.
