    It always does me.
Then I can buy what I need or want or save it.
It gives many options that way.
I give this kind of gift, as well, along with some heartfelt little Token, my own words or painting....a little added extra of my heart that does not require any more expense other than the check, but my heart in some way. :)

I was a "non traditional" student at the university where I worked. (non traditional means going to university when you are older. I started Ithaca college in 1968 for almost a couple years. Finished in 1997 in Ohio. I was on the thirty year plan.) Anyway, I became friends with two other non traditional students and one of our professor's. Once or twice a year we still get together for a dinner out. Tomorrow is one of those nights.

When we get together near Christmas we usually bring small gifts. For the last 45 years I have been crocheting snowflake ornaments and giving them out as gifts. I was sure that I still had a stash made that I could just pull three out to give. The ornaments are not where I thought they should be so instead of looking everywhere I decided I better start making them. Good thing i did not wait till tomorrow or I would have nothing to bring with me.

Sorry to hear about your loses, guys and gals.

Aeri....what happened to your brother? Hunting alone and had an accident?

I haven't lost anyone around the holidays for a long time. One of my grandma's was the only family member of mine who has died during this time of year but I was 10 at the time. I'm over it. But, man...was I bummed when it happened. My mom still gets kind of down around this time of year.

My brother was walking his dog and never came home.

There were conflicting reports from friends, across town, that they had seen him during the time he was missing.

We never looked close to home. We assumed, from the friends reports, that he wasn't near home.

When his body was found, the GBI found no signs of foul play.

He was a Meth addict and had Meth in his system so the death was ruled an overdose.

A roofer spotted the body in the woods just behind some condos very close to my mother's home, which my brother went missing from.

That's rough. Meth is a bitch. My brother nearly died from it too. I didn't even realize just how bad off he was at the time because my family sucks at staying in touch with each other. Luckily, he woke up and straightened his life up.

Phillip, my brother, was an addict for 30 years.

I think he was extremely fortunate to have made it as long as he did.

He was 48 years old when he left us.
