I'm with you about the holidays, Orison. It's all well and good for lucky people who have a huge Brady Bunch family. The rest of us get to practice a bit of self-control and try not to slap people singing xmas songs. I'm sorry your holiday looks to be even worse this year.

I hope the weather lets me spend xmas at the casino with the gamblers and alcoholics! Joy to the World!

    :)

Sorry Orison. Mom died December 5, 2008 and it still affects me negatively during this time of year starting with Thanksgiving. Even after all these years holidays are just not even close to the same.

Since we're all sharing tragic holiday stories...

My brother went missing on November 7, 2003.

His body was discovered in the woods on December 7, 2003.

    It leaves a scar.

With both of my parents gone at too early an age as far as I am concerned, and my dad died thanksgiving month, I find it a struggle to stay happy but I try my damndest anyway. While I still live, I am not going to let myself die of sadness like I thought I might for the last 2 years. Some days are better, of course.
I have lost many people and favorite animals. I still am sad about the pets I lost too early.
I m not looking for violins here, but just know I understand sadness.
But....I will fight like hell to make the most out of the rest of my life and hopefully with a happy heart as much as possible.

Ari that is so sad about your brother, and yours, too, ori. I would have to be institionalized, I think, if I lost mine.

I think the holidays can be really stressful without all the added hardships that at times seems to fall around a time that is suppose to be good cheer and family.

Big hugs to all of you who are struggling at this time especially. I also just have hugs for any time you all need them.

About 2 1/2 hours ago both my phone and internet went down... glad there weren't any emergencies. Walking for help just doesn't cut it.

Sad to hear about everybody's losses... This has always been a bad time of year.

Let's talk about something happy. Coffee. Yep. Coffee is a happy thing.

The next one to mention xmas has to come paint my house or something joyful like that.

My son is graduating from college this month. That's a happy topic! He really needs a new computer for his house but that seems like a poor choice for a graduation gift. It's a little late for helping him with his homework.

Any ideas for graduation gifts in the 1kish price range?? Oh.. and his wife is also graduating this month... so any thoughts on a combined gift?

sorry about your brother aerianne....I don't have any tragic stories that involve Christmas

hey I did just find a copy of a university musical revue from the 50s and it is marked as to be returned to bruce coulter of bishops university.dude was a 10 year cfl player...he won the grey cup and their field is named after the guy....so I am contacting the university to give them the record as a trade for a hoodie

I think that is fair...dude signed the record too..he is in the football hall of fame and all over youtube

Actually, Moonglow.... that's probably the best idea. I usually send money for that day-that-I'm-not-going- to-mention so I don't have to paint my own house... So, I was hoping for a different gift that would be only for the graduation. But... they have young children, so money for both would probably make them happiest.
