If you're wondering what a cat cafe is, you're not alone. But it turns out it's pretty much what you probably think it is: a place for seemingly well-paid hipsters to pay other hipsters money to hang out with cats — and in the case of a D.C. cat cafe, $15 an hour.

So anyway, like I was trying to say, I have to go with my son to the dentist tomorrow. He's having two teeth extracted and he is nervous, I guess.

 

Sometimes after a dentist appointment for something like that you can feel a little off as well. It is probably good that you are going with him in case he does.

 

I think he got extra concerned because the dentist isn't doing it and sent him to an oral surgeon. I think he believes it's somehow going to be worse than when he's had an extraction at the dentist.

He has panic attacks when he drives on the freeway and even though this isn't freeway driving he probably thinks he won't be 100% for driving.

I don't mind at all.

 

Probably a good idea to have a driver if he's going to an oral surgeon. He might get a pretty potent anesthetic.

 

I hope so!

Major storms today and this evening. I think there were 7 tornadoes and plenty of storm damage. I can hear the wind raging outside right now. But....after all the work we've recently done to the house.....I can't even feel the slightest draft in the house. This place is as tight as it gets.

Spent time in the wood shop again this evening. A stool shouldn't take this long but....if you want it to look good...there are some meticulous angled cuts and joints you have to figure out. One degree off here or there will show. My biggest thing is that I didn't draw it out. I'm just going off the plan in my head so I have to remember the details every time I go out there. I hate to be a perfectionist but I kind of am about this kind of thing. I'm soooo disappointed when I screw things up.

 

The stool should take as exactly as long as it does.

 

Well....I've been working on other things at the same time. The stool is just a different little project. With my limited space....I kind of try to get everything done on different fronts while a machine is out and ready to use. For instance, the table saw was out this evening so I got all my angle and straight cuts done for a few different things before moving on to joints (the ones you connect...not the ones you smoke ) But really....I'm in no hurry at all. It isn't a job. I love being out there. I love building things. I love taking my time to get things right. I love the smell of the wood. I've kind of had a life-long love affair with this hobby so....no hurries or worries. It will all work out.

That's actually kind of true. Most of the things that I find amusing in life have something to do with wood. Either my job or milling lumber or woodworking.....those things are just what I get a lot a happiness out of doing. I feel as normal covered in sawdust as I do stepping out of the shower. One thing I love about wood and woodworking is that there isn't a lot of people bothering me. Most people don't have a reason to talk to me. I'm fine with that.
