I guess it's now my job to take my daughter to school every morning. My wife doesn't want her to ride the bus. She has her reasons, I guess. I'll just have to a few minutes late to work everyday for the time being.

School buses are awful places where awful things take place.

It's worth being a few minutes late if you can.

It's not really that. I was just thinking it over while showering and it's kind of more of a shitty thing that has more to do with who succeeds around here and who you associate with. I hate it but my wife is right. It's really a tough deal for me because we are raising her to see people for who they are....not who they are associated with or what they have or don't have. But at the same time...my wife has worked with many kids for a long time and she knows who will be the "problem kids" later and our daughter seems to just have this heart of gold and no sense of judgement. That's good but she's only in middle school. Those are the kids who can drag her down in high school. We've dealt with this before with our boys. We don't want her to judge anyone but we also don't want her to relate to the lowest common denominator. I feel shitty for even acknowledging any difference but the fact is.....we live where we do. Our daughter should be considered a hero against the bullshit of this town but...as a parent...I've been here for a long time. I know how things work around here. It isn't fair.

We almost had to start taking our granddaughter last year, in her first year of middle school. The bus gets to the school ridiculously early and the kids stay in the gym until school starts.

She was having alot of drama caused by this one girl who really was bullying her.

That girl finally moved out of the school district after giving our girl grief for at least 3 years.

As Everybody Will Recall GLEN Has Not Watched TV For Over 9 Years, And All That

Changed Today When He Finally Caved In And Bought A HD Digital Flat Screen TV.

It Has All The Bells And Whistles Most Of Which GLEN Has Not A Clue How They Work.

It's Not The Biggest Screen On The Market But I Think 9 inches Is Quite Big Enough For

    Me To Handle...... :D .

    Cheers Glen.

At least the bully finally moved on. We haven't had too much of a problem with that. We're much more concerned with the crowd that is much more likely to be meth-heads, "emo" kids and teen parents.

I've never heard of high schools having day cares but I suppose some of them probably do. Our local high school seems to tolerate so much shit that never would have happened when I was in school.

Way back about 100 yrs ago ;) I rode the school bus. Even back then it was rough. That's where I heard every "bad word" in the world 1st. Its where I got in my 1st fight. Kids are awful, really...well, many of them are. I'm not saying they don't grow up in environments that definitely contribute to that; but, it is what it is.

My boy rode the bus until he got a car; but, from day 1 he was and is not only able to take up for himself but he was always the one to take up for others.

Girls are different. And talking about how sweet your girl is, I agree with your wife.

I loved taking the school bus....specially when I realized that if you miss the bus you get to take 2 hours to walk to school the long way and have fun on a school day....we would pretend we were playing ball hockey behind the school where we met the bus and then walk to our school once it left

    good times....

I saw fights on the bus as a kid but I really don't see my girl ever getting into a fight. She's pretty small and gentle. I bet if someone shoved or hit her...she might even start crying just because she would be shocked and it would hurt her feelings that someone would do that to her. (At the same time...she wants to take up kickboxing and she has no problem punching her older brothers...they have it coming...trust me.) :)

On a musical note...I finally got around to playing that song with the recording again. Nailed it from the beginning to the end. Now it doesn't seem so hard to play once you know it. I'll play it a couple of times a night with the recording for the next week and a half before that fest and it will be fine. That's good because I have a lot of other musical work to do for different things.
