Well, for those of you that don't understand why a person smokes cigarettes...let me tell you why I will ALWAYS want to smoke...

No, I'm not smoking presently; but, that doesn't mean I don't want to...

I quite thoroughly enjoy inhaling the smoke down into my lungs and blowing it out...can't explain WHY any better than any other smoker...it is what it is.

When I smoked, it was the "all-round" "drug" ... if I was tired it could pick me up. If I was upset or put out (or any of those similar type emotions), smoking would calm me down. easy peasy

IF I was to be told in a burning bush (for example) that such and such is the last day you live...nothing you can do will change it, extend it...nada...this is Your Day to Go...the first thing I would do would be to go and buy a pack off Marlboros (NON menthol) :)

I wish I was 20 years younger. MMA wasn't really much of a thing back then. It was starting but back then I turned down two chances to go pro in kick-boxing (much more my game than MMA). I was a Golden Gloves boxer and on the #2 ranked team/club in the country in collage. I'm also a black belt with my fair share of state and regional gold medals. Only lost one match ever in martial arts.

I stopped competing about 5 years ago but after seeing these guys last night....I want to go out there and get after it. I don't think that feeling ever leaves you. If you don't understand it....it's kind of like the "fight or flight" feeling except there is no flight. You don't get to leave. You have to conquer yourself and get your head on straight and then go out there and execute your game plan. Training fighters is fun but fighting is much more fun. I want to give this MMA thing a try but my wife would kill me before I ever got back in the ring. Maybe I should start working out with some MMA guys (I used to) and just gradually move in that direction...and maybe she will come around. I don't know. But I doubt she will come and watch. The last time she watched...I won my second state championship and it was the fight of my life. I think she was done after that.

And when I say I wish I could get back in there....it's like me and every other dude who ever spent a decent amount of times with gloves on....almost all of us share that feeling. You want to relive the wins and re-fight the losses (which in my case is only one and if I could go back to that day I would withdraw from the match because I was injured going into it but I learned a tough lesson about ego that day. I wasn't invincible).

It might be the same with anything.

My son coaches ball now, whereas he use to play ball. I know he'd rather start all over and play every game again.

Not much chatter around here this weekend. I had the fights on Friday night...followed by band practice. There was also a music fest this weekend that I didn't play at but I went to watch/listen yesterday and today. Lots of great bands but after a while it isn't very fun for me. This is going to sound like a really shitty thing to say but....at a certain point...I just want to go home. Every five minutes someone is like "When are you guys playing?", "You aren't playing? Why?" Etc, etc. It's a lot of conversations that I'd really rather not have but I'm stuck. I'm an introvert who really doesn't want that kind of conversation while just hanging out with a couple of good friends. I'm honestly not even very good so it amazes me that people even want to talk to me but I'd rather just be polite and deal with it for a bit and then get the hell out of there. People should recognize true talent and that isn't really me. There are so many much better players out there. I'm just a "dime a dozen" player who happens to be well-known in his own back yard.

    And...alas...another blog.

    Hi Wiz!

I'm a little brain dead with a headache.

My son turned 33 today and we had a small get-together.

    It's good to see you.

Nice. You're a bit older than me. My oldest is almost 21. He played a solo set today. That's mostly why I was there today. I can't get enough of his playing. He blows me away on guitar.

I would be asleep right now except for I'm waiting for my daughter to get back home from her babysitting gig tonight. Papa Bear...has to stay awake to make sure she gets home.

I don't blame you one bit on waiting up for her.

Has her school started again or is she still out on Summer break?

School starts on Tuesday but my wife went back to work about a week and a half ago. I guess they have to get their stuff together for the next school year.

Right. I didn't figure your daughter would be babysitting on a school night.

I'm going to be doing stuff this week...around the house.

    I AM!

    (I'm convincing myself.)

There is A LOT to do, from here inside to the 2 7/8 acres on which this house sets. lordhavemercy

Right now my job is to go make a nice hot cup of strong (jail-house like) coffee. man it smells good...seriously [IMG]

My daughter's best friend of nearly 30 years is getting married in the Spring. It's going to be a barn wedding. This will be a wardrobe challenge for me. The whole wedding party is wearing cowboy boots.

I found over $100,000 in stolen money when I was 11 years old.
The victim gave me a $20 reward. She was over 80 years old...so what could I say? And, really $20 to an 11 year old in 1976 was a chunk of money.
