You need to be drinking tea with honey and lemon and oh, I don't know...go and get some antibiotics and some chicken soup. :)

I can't help saying this...please don't be mad, but more than that please get well. :daisy:

See? He's never claimed to be a tree guy but...as a life-long tree guy....I feel like he deserves the honorary title. Tree guys are some tough SOB's and he's still stepping up at his age.

But Ty does ALL KINDS OF STUFF...trees, mowing acres and acres, rebuilding engines, plumbing, re-modeling homes and etc etc...

The tree work is a HUGE deal, no doubt! But there are numerous other things he does, and I want him to at least stay indoors and work his butt off there..since dear Ty is determined to work doing something. :)

Beyond all that...and without the shadow of a doubt, Ty is a tough ass - and smart as all get out.

and THAT (all of that) is why I want you to take better care of yourself, my friend.

I got all my shit worked out on vocals and guitar of this song tonight....I think I'm playing the solo later in the song.

This is my last one to get done before this weekend (really before practice tomorrow). I play Jerry's part on the first section. We actually play this in my band all the time but we shift to I Know You Rider very early...after the first key change in China Cat. So I'm figuring out what to play on the other changes right now. I've got this.

Some of you guys might not be into this stuff but our fellow deadheads might appreciate it. Rock on! This will be awesome and I should be go to go for this weekend once I nail down this last little bit.

Kindly tell your brothers that I said they should be tarred and feathered for their neglect of their sister. :)

Never got into the Dead either... More a hard rock/heavy metal guy.

The other teacher at the guitar building school was a big Deadhead... One day he was bitching about heavy metal guys always sounding the same. I asked him if he actually listened to Jerry much... There's a guy that always sounds the same. [IMG]

I'm a big Beatles fan but not a huge Stones fan. I like them but they're just ok for me.

You can make a case for Jerry sounding the same until you actually listen to what he's playing and where it came from. I am exceptionally well-versed on the music of the Grateful Dead and nobody with that insight would ever say he sounds the same.

We were pretty much discussing tonality... Like I've never heard a long sustained wailing, almost feedback bend from Jerry. Just kick on the auto wah and play a bunch of short notes in some random scale and don'ch dare allow sustain. True, to a deadhead those scales mean something but to me it just doesn't move me.

Somebody like Trower on the other hand.... or Iommi, or Martin Barre from Tull. Those guys were more my style.

But then I have to laugh at myself for spending so much time figuring what I want to play on songs that I know very well.

Same here, although I got into the Dead (or similar stuff) more later on.

Also there seems to be some kind of (gimmicky/pseudo serious) divide between Stones and Beatles fans here, well, especially between the original fans. Like you were either a rocker that preferred the Stones or a psych pop lover who preferred the Beatles. But I never really got into either of them :D From those days (wich are before my time..) I, as soon as I got to know them, preferred stuff like JA and the Doors.

Ty did take a short break Monday when I was there from 9-2. We visited and watched hummingbirds (and many other birds), laughed some, looked at his backyard garden and some caterpillars, many butterflies, there was a crazy squirrel planting nuts all over the back yard. Ty would say "I don't want a oak tree there" and the squirrel would go off in another direction. I brought lunch, some vitamin C and zinc, and of course coffee beans.

Edit: Of course the minute I left he went back to cutting down trees, working on engines and mowing the lawns.
