It's supposed to be kind of hot here all week but...no rain. We've lost a few hours for rain every week for maybe the last 4 weeks in a row.

Had a nice band practice with band #2 again this evening. Things are starting to gel. We'll be playing a lot this week. I'm having a lot of fun with it. There are a lot of challenges which I am enjoying.

You guys can have the rain. We're good here. There was a small town to the north of us by about 20 miles that got 7 inches of rain in one storm last week. That's insane!

Things are still green here... Except the stuff that thinks it's October. Meanwhile it's September and we are having August weather, which is okay because we had September weather in August.

    Perfectly normal.

I'm kind of concerned about the cuttings I have going from the bay leaf tree. The largest one probably needs to be cut down and make (yet another) cutting to root.

It takes a long time (up to 9 months) for a cutting to be substantial enough to be considered rooted, according to what I've read about it. yes, I actually did a little research.

I currently have 3 cutting/rootings going...there are 2 little bitty soil line branches (twigs) from the original tree I still intend to try and root.

The maybe I'll make some wands (or something) from the wood of my precious (and mostly dead) tree.

Two saws are ready to go... Guess I'm doing trees today. The 20" saw will have to get parts at some point, can't use it until then.

In the process of rebuilding my #1 push mower... New/old deck is being sealed. I'll swap over the engine in a few days or whenever the paint is dry enough. #2 mower is a future project.

Somewhere buried in the garage is the first Cub Cadet rebuild too...

Welp.... That muthafuggintangleddoubletrunk Ash tree is finally down. Holy shyt that was a complex puzzle.

Before it died it was the canopy. The understory trees are a mix of Oak, Hickory, Maple and Elm, several of each. Although the Elm are expendable because they are going to die from Dutch Elm disease they are still part of the puzzle. I didn't want to harm the others. The first half of the Ash was already hung before I cut into it.... aka instant widowmaker. After I dropped it and I took two big chunks out of that trunk it was standing straight up and down again about 15-20 feet away from the main trunk. I had a rope on it and tension from the WoodRat. I had to cut that "trunk" as if it had grown there to get that part down falling the opposite direction from where it started to fall. (started falling to the north and then made it fall due south)

The second half of the Ash had to be taken down in two different directions from the first half and the first limb from that was me standing on the stump I had just created.... It went where I sent it and just barely missed the Apple tree in the clearing to the west. Then I dropped the main part south and just missed the huge Oak... Yay, nobody died, and the understory trees are okay. Fucked up a bunch of Honey Suckle and Wild Rose though....

It's cut up and waiting for me the bring it down to the backyard to buck it, split it and then stack it... Maybe some other day.

Would be interesting to know what My fever is today... I'm operating somewhere between Flu bordering on Pneumonia. Fun stuff, almost feels like hard drugs. :dizzy2:

My wife got back her annual performance review today. It had a bunch of different categories. She was rated "exceeds district standards" (the highest rating) across the board.....every single category. It was accompanied by a letter from her boss that was nothing but praise. So that stuff will go into her employee file. Way to kick ass!! You just can't do any better than that.

Hmm...I don't know. I think she got a raise this year anyway. I'm not real sure how much she even makes. But I'm not really surprised by the review though. She's just one of those people who are on point and know how to get things done and manage others in a way that they get things done. She's quickly rose to the top of every organization she's worked for.

When she started working for the school district, my friends and I joked around about "Give her two years and she'll be the superintendent of the whole district!"
