Goals are good. I just keep thinking that he will be past middle aged by the time he is released and to imagine trying to start life out at that point is hard to do. Lordy, life is full of curve balls.

Agree with you but the whole situation is sad. I am sure that the family never expected him to do this or that sentence. I am sure the family of the girl is the same in that it would be devastating for them. It is probably harder on both families to deal with than we can even imagine.

Use of curve ball is probably a bad choice on my part. One event in a life can change so many lives and that is what I meant.

I'm glad that his father (my brother) and his grandparents (my parents) are not here to know about it.

Sorry to hear about this. I wish I could think of something to say that makes this seem like a little better situation.

I ordered my daughter's bday present tonight. I was broke on her birthday and told her she'd have to wait until hubby's check came. I got her a canvas painting for their new apartment.

I'm having the background done in black, the chevron's in gold, the lettering in purple, and the arrows in pink.

It's a saying/song that's important to them. They even had arrow tattoos done on the inside of their upper arms when we were at the beach.

I like the idea of the painting. :)

I've been toying with the idea of changing my hair style a bit. My daughter hates it so I know I'm moving in the right direction. She wants to be able to say she has cool parents and her dad plays in "this" band.....but she also wants me to never act like I know anything about music in front of her friends or have any sense of fashion. I respond with the most ridiculous shit just to shock her and her friends (who have all come to expect and enjoy my shenanigans). I think her friends think I'm the "cool dad" while she acts like she is mortified by me...while still being just as amused as her friends are. It's kind of a game.

Ex: (I don't do any drugs anymore)

Daughter: Dad, what is your favorite herb? (something for school)
    Me: Weed.
    Her: OMG...dad!!!
Wife: Seriously? I knew you would say that! (laughs her ass off)
Me: What? It's an herb, isn't it?
Her: It has to be legal!
Me: Don't use that answer at school.
    Her: (Sigh.....fucking deadheads)

My dad mortified me when I was a teenager.

One Summer at the beach, he told me that he wanted to walk on the beach with me. I waited a few minutes for him and he came out wearing white socks on his bare feet, jeans he'd cut of to the knee with big, exaggerated zig-zag points, and a twine rope tied through the belt loops.

I walked with him. It was hysterical.

I'm pretty sure my daughter would murder me for something like this. :) She should really lighten up. She's totally underestimating my capacity to embarrass her. I wouldn't really go that far but she is way out of her league. There is a certain freedom found at an age where you just don't give a shit anymore.

I'm pretty sure my friend, Caryl, was with us. It was the Summer that I got to drive the convertible all the way there, while there, and back.

It wasn't such a bad trade off.

My mother has ALWAYS been that age. Plus...she is usually oblivious. When she isn't in her own oblivious world, she has always been incapable of being embarrassed. Perhaps that is why I got an extra genome of it...I got whatever is lacking in her (the embarrassment gene).

Back to work on the second bedroom/studio today... I've got that section of wall that I had to strip the wallpaper from smooth and painted. It's white and doesn't match anything else in the room though. I'll have to figure it out later.

Gotta get the ceiling done first.

We made a Walmart run this morning.

They have really knobby mats in front of the produce.

Hubby tried to move out of some lady's way, stumbled and fell backwards right onto the tiled floor. The lady helped get him up out of the floor. She said she was use to it because her dad's whole right side of body doesn't work.

Hubby came out with a bleeding hand and a bleeding knee.

He usually falls on carpet, wood, or yard.

Last coat of paint on the ceiling is done, remaining three faux beams are glued together. Now I need to sand them, stain them and then install. That's not all going to happen tonight...

    or tomorrow.
