Random Facts #54

A long time ago I took two days off from my business... Put up a fence with a solid row of Lemon scented Geraniums around it, to keep out the deer, about 45 plants needed to do this space. Inside the fenced in area I stripped the sod/weeds, put down weedblock, actual redwood/cedar mulch with a gravel labyrinth path to a meditation bench in the center. 13 specifically chosen mature rose bushes were planted including a climbing rose on the iron archway over the wrought iron gate. Winding a mature climbing rose on an iron arch requires a lot of blood... A drip irrigation system was then installed... This was to be a meditation/rose garden for my wife, we had talked about it many times.

After it was done I came into the house right around nightfall. The EX looked at me and said "You don't bring me flower anymore"... She wasn't joking. :wall:

 

Damn Ty. That sounds beautiful.

Back when this hubby bought me flowers they were always to plant and enjoy year after year and I loved that. That was long enough ago that they aren't around anymore for one reason or another.

I just took a huge bag, about 25 lbs I think, of glass shit out to the garbage. It was hard lifting but I did enjoy the sound of breaking glass when I dropped it in.

 

Sounds like the guy has a few things going against him that "the scene" has nothing to do with. But...every area has movers and shakers and maybe those people just don't think he's very good. Does the guy play with a whole band? Maybe the dude just doesn't know the right people.

I've probably posted this before but I remember this time I was talking to this kid outside of a venue we were playing. He was kind of new to the area and said he tried everything he could think of and couldn't find anywhere willing to give him a chance to play. He was told the area was very cliquey about live music and he had to know the right people (just like anywhere probably). So a couple of days later, my wife and I were having lunch with our producer and his wife (two very good friends of mine and established musicians) and we discussed this. My buddy and I agreed...not cliquey. My wife said "Has it occurred to either of you that it doesn't seem cliquey to you because you guys are in the "club"? We both looked at each other like...hmmm....and then we both more or less said "Yeah....well....maybe it is cliquey". What are you gonna do?

The problem is... well, let him speak for himself. I mean I love the guy. He's become a great friend. We've traveled together, etc. I just cannot understand him when he sings.

 

And to further complicate things... I was on this set all day and have a few seconds in this video.

 

I listened to 1:15 of that. The guy just isn't good. It has nothing to do with the scene. The level of talent out there is so great that this guy isn't even a competent karoke singer IMO. That's why he blames the scene. The scene isn't impressed with him at all. I hope that isn't too harsh but it's the truth.

lol...he only started singing at like 1.03 and you listened until 1.15......you lasted 12 seconds of him....classic

 

I know but fuck....I couldn't take it. Did he get any better after that?

not really....but I never been a fan of the heavy metal/thrash metal/occult metal....whatever the kids are calling it these days......I just was introduced to ''trap music''......hadn't heard that phrase before....it is kind of hip hop mash up stuff...remixed type hip hop I guess...it was ok...not a rap guy either but there is a few rap songs I actually really do like

I forgot to say that I was in the water in Panama City Beach, FL when a Sea Turtle swam through where I was in the water. It was pretty small, about the size of a pro football I guess; it stuck it's head up above the water once as it was swimming.
