The sink is sound. We checked the steel frame. The rust is under the cosmetic porcelain.

The raccoons here are not nocturnal.

Rosie Raccoon is looking through the door into the kitchen wanting me to put out cat food right now.

I have to trap these two and re-home them.

I took the dog out and the raccoon was in the carport eating from that cat food bowl.

I've got critter problems 'round here.

My sister had the same issue but with a skunk. When the skunk saw her coming out to fill the bowls, it would saunter to the back of the barn and just sit and wait until she was done and heading for the door and then walk back over and eat. It would also eat while the cats were in the bowls as well. Was not too bad until she had wee ones and then there was her and three little ones. She did trap and move them and reeked for days. :)

    Oh, no! Heather!

At least I won't have to get skunked, lol

I put a waste basket upside down over the food. When I went back out the wastebasket with the food under it was slid over near the edge of the carport and there were raccoon footprints from the water bowl.

Raccoons are really smart and when it comes to food they are bloody brilliant. :)

This one, I guess it's just one, is younger and it's ears are perfect. The other one must be older, it's a bit bigger and it's ears are missing places from fights with something. I call it Ratty Raccoon and the other one Rosie Raccoon.

They are actually really cute looking little beasts but they are so destructive and can get nasty once the are adults. We use to have them at the cottage and keeping them out of anything they wanted into was a challenge. I spent more time untying the garbage cans than they did finding a way to get back into them. I never won the battle!! :)

They just want easy food. There is a creek maybe 200 ft down the hill.

I noticed the deer look thin and wondered if they should be in Summer. The 3 bucks were eating grass in the back yard this morning with their ribs showing.

LOL....i stopped putting the garbage outside in their tied bags...squirrels are smart, too....:D...and the garbage one day was all over the place......The other night I saw a big fox or coyote...one of the two....going towards where a loaf of bread is put out almost every night that the turkeys and other birds used to eat....must stop that now, too.....dammit.

have not seen any wild turkeys lately and that makes me sad.

It's not really $7. I just edited the post to say that this morning because I had no idea what the hell I was talking about in the original post but it sounded dumb. I have no idea how much we are making for different shows, merchandise, etc. I just never think to ask. Sometimes I hear it in passing but I don't care very much. All of the money from shows goes into a fund that pays our expenses before it pays us and all of our merch, CDs, etc is sold by our label and our cut goes into a different acct. which basically just sits there until we need it for something. I trust the people who are handling that end and it's not like we're talking about millions of dollars. Once those funds reach a certain amount...we all get some money because we're over our reserve amount enough.

I've been out kayaking all afternoon with my girls. The new boat is nice and it handles well but I got back in my boat at the first sandbar we stopped at. The new one is fine but it's a tandem and my boat is much faster and easier to maneuver. But the seats in the new boat are more comfortable than my boat.

But....ahh...just floating down the river on a beautiful day. So perfect. Maybe I'll do it again tomorrow. :)

    That's cool.

I know a band that's been trying to make it here for years. Sometimes, the come out of a show having made less than $10 a piece. It's not a very good band.

Jars, bottles, vases, coffee cans...all rammed back in the lower corner cabinet. What was I saving them for?

The vases made me sad. I remembered back when my daughter and I both use to get flowers and sometimes needed that many. Sometimes, she'd get 3 or 4 bouquets after a dance recital; boyfriends would bring her flowers; my husband would bring me flowers...

Fuck it. The vases are leaving the house and I'll put the space to better use.

    Edit - I need a hug.

Well...we're never going to "make it" either but it's isn't like we try very hard at all. We just want to have fun. We're fairly well-known in our area mostly because we've been around for so long. The radio host from that thing I was going to post last night said something like "These guys have been holding down the central Iowa jam band scene for 11 years"...which is funny because we aren't really a jam band and we've been around longer than that (which he is well aware of) but I chuckled because I thought "He must not be counting the first 3 or 4 years when we really sucked!" :)

But if you are a part of the central Iowa music scene for any decent length of time....you probably know who we are. And really....even the level we are at is more than we ever expected or could have asked for. It isn't much but if our singer and I go to a venue tonight....we probably won't have to pay cover (even though we will pay it), we'll probably get free beer and many people will know us...even if they only know our nicknames. I met a couple this morning and we got to talking about music....they asked what band I was in and when I told them...they were like "Oh yeah...we've seen you guys....we wanted to make it out to <our fest> this year but we couldn't". (I gave them the skinny on the Sept. fest which hasn't been announced yet so maybe they can get to that one).

But anyway....I guess "making it" just isn't important to us. The little bit of local notoriety is far more than we ever expected or ever deserved and it's more than a lot of other much better musicians ever get even if they deserve it more than we do. It's good enough for us. Annndddd.....I'm rambling again.

No, it's cool. I like hearing your perspective, Wiz, because it's totally different than the goof I mentioned.

He says it's the Atlanta scene that's at fault.

Dude if you can't become something in Atlanta then take a hint.

He has his eyes on fame and to tell you the truth you cannot understand a lyric that comes out of his mouth, unless he's singing a ballad; which, in my opinion he should stick to.

The music he writes is good. His delivery is just unintelligible (heavy Puerto Rican accent) and he doesn't have the looks to be a front man either.

Still, he isn't making it because of everyone and everything else.
