It's fibre glass so it will get holes in it now - Thanks Alaskan. It is raised off the ground though - it has aluminium supports which the plumber left on for me when he took it outside!

I am keeping a journal for Rees Garden although it probably won't have daily input!

    Peace

You are corect, most soil needs some typ humus. The way I do it is putting lawn clippings between the rows. After the growing season is over,I run my machine trough the old beds, onto the walkways, thus blending then together.

I can not show a pix of my machine,I have yet to patent it! I do not whant someone else bulding it. The machine is so simple aneyone would be able build one. I am trying to get the capital together to start building them.

On a side note, on bulding your raised beds. I have found somthing very simple to use for sides(if you use sides. I do not.)
Everyone has been in a store, that uses steal shelves. These shelves come in meney withs/hights. The have holes in the ends that make it esey to bolt together. They will last for a very long time with no effort. I have seen tones in the trash and most of the time you can get them for FREE. Just look for stores going out of business,or call people who clean out these stores. Most of the time the will let you haul them off so the whon't have to.

Thanks for the comments, will be posting updates soon.

Would your machine be safe for the worms? I know that's why I use the fork to turn beds instead of a tiller machine. I've found that the more corners that get cut, the worse off the final product is. Hard work pays off, so unless I was disabled I'd opt to shovel and save my money.

We just recycled another house hold object for a raised bed! We had an old front loading washing machine - long since dead, but we just felt that it could be re-used for something. It is now on its side and will be used for pumpkins as the tub isn't big enough for salad and pumpkins too. The glass door is being used as a bird bath!! There are already holes for drainage in the drum, we just need a liner.
