Yeah I listened to radiohead a lot about 8 years ago when I was really depressed and isolated. I tried listening a few weeks ago on acid and was just not impressed with how bleak and "purposefully psychotic" it was, like he was going about the whole thing all wrong.

The tension that Radiohead create on albums like 'OK Computer' and 'Kid A' and the thematic elements is very good unique for tripping. Compared to Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Genesis, Led Zeppelin and alot of the other recommended psychedelic music Radiohead certainly doesn't come off as self indulgent.

That may be, but all I can do is report how the music makes ME feel.
Anything that consistently ''brings me down'' just isnt right for me, especially not on a trip. Its purely subjective, of course.

haha is anyone familiar with the Cure's song Lullaby? That was written about a bad acid trip where he saw spiders eat him, that would be the scariest thing!!! Depression doesn't bug me all that much... but I hate spiders!

erm about radiohead copying, haven't you heard of 'the talking heads'....? radiohead got their name from a talking heads track titled raidohead.

    talking heads rule!!

They are one of my favorite bands yet I've rarely listened to them dosed, so it's definitely not my preferred choice of 'tripping music' and I understand what you are saying but I also view it as a testament to how powerful their music is. Radiohead certainly don't cater to that colorful, sunshiney, all goood vibe like jam bands and they aren't overly meditative or spaced out like some of the electronic music I prefer for tripping. Pink Floyd also had a somewhat somber edge imo but I guess their themes and sounds were kind of more global and structured as where Radiohead comes off more personal and chaotic.

I think something most everyone can agree on is usually music you enjoy listening to sober, you will enjoy listening to while tripping.

i tried putting on radiohead when i was on mephedrone, alcohol and dalai lama tabs but the other people tripping turned it off as 'videotape' from in rainbows was too depressing :p

i was quite enjoying it myself. other than that i cannot recall of any other radiohead acid listening but i'm sure i have listened to some on acid before..

The Bends is somewhat "depressing," and maybe a few of the songs on OK Computer (I think these are their two best albums, BTW) as well. The rest of their output is just annoying and too self-indulgent and pseudo-experimental.

Overall, Radiohead are an extremely overrated band.

The two aforementioned albums do deserve most of the praise they receive, though.

While I do agree they're somewhat overrated and depressing, I can appreciate their musical talent and understand why others enjoy it. They also seem to be quite interesting people, I think they are (or were) vegan and involved in various causes...

Here is why I respect Radiohead, they started out, overrated, but even they themselves knew it. They're hit Creep, they refuse to play. I only like it, because it got Radiohead to where they are today. After OK Computer, Radiohead had the money to experiment, and that's what they do, and I think they are one of the greatest bands ever musically. Every album is it's own thing. So for anyone who doesn't like them, I suggest to try out the album Hail to the Thief, it has an Indie/Electronic/Rock feel to it that is like no other.

In Rainbows is fantastic, and King of Limbs is looking to be a better live performance than album, but it's still pretty great.

And Thom Yorke is vegan, I don't know if the whole band is...

I tripped with a group of friends the day after King of Limbs came out. We listened to it together for the first time on great speakers, all tripping, with everyone being big Radiohead fans. It was an awesome experience.

Other than that I can't recall any other times I've listened to Radiohead whilst tripping. I'm not sure how I would react hearing their other albums since I usually prefer to listen to new music when I trip. At this point I know their discography too well. They're one of my favorite bands for sure.

dropped 3 an hour ago and I'm listening to Radiohead. OMG it is the greatest thing, they are moving time.... There are no words. Incredible! But as some said, yes, everyonce in a while those bad tones bring you way down... but then your in a better mood when you recognize the bad, this is just gonna start sounding weird. But I love it!

Came back I think... That was pretty weird shit. REally heavy, Idk if Radiohead was such a a good idea, but here's what I can say. Listening to new sound was fun, but what really fucked with your head was knowing a song, and being able to "process" it faster and hear time bend then come back seamlessly and Radiohead is one of the few bands I know very very well with every song.

And whoever said that OK Computer was good, I was surprised to see that as one of my favorites on it... it felt way more different than I ever heard it.

Next time, I think I may just do some happy stuff, that was really heavy, I've never thought so much in my life and it's only been one night... peace
