You would think, if they actually wanted to, they would be able to overcome that unfortunate inheritance in over 400 years !!!
I can’t say that he isn’t a person of colour or that he is racist. I do not know how he identifies himself. You are the one making up stories here, That was my point. I do know that he is against the enforced wearing of masks and that he was making a statement against a white government in California. You make a lot of assumptions. Me saying for all I know his name could be, whatever, is not making things up. People are not surface colours or what you think you see. If a black guy has blue eyes does he become white? Or if a very light skinned guy with features That appear to be that of an African American, does that person become white if they voted for trump? Do you wan5 to label people?
I'm saying a white guy with a tan is still a white guy, and that a white guy who wears a KKK mask grocery shopping and only claim he was making some other "statement" once questioned by police can rightly expect to receive the racist label. Considering there is no ideological or political connection between the Ku Klux Klan and wearing a facemask to do some shopping, I suspect his claim to the cops is bullshit.
you don’t know ... he could identify as a person of colour. considering the number of people on this forum who associate it with the right wing, I would say this has been pushed as a right wing white guy. I don’t know how he votes, I don’t know his ethnicity. I do know this was not a racist act. I know it was a statement against government control over mask wearing and his protest against this dictate. He was making a political statement, which he said himself was stupid. He could have worm a burka, there would be no problem with that. He chose to wear something that would cause a stir for political purposes.
In interviews with sheriff’s investigators, the man “expressed frustration with the coronavirus and having the government tell him what he can and cannot do,” the sheriff’s office said in its statement. “He said that wearing the hood was not intended to be a racial statement,” the sheriff’s office said. “In summary, he said, ‘It was a mask and it was stupid.’”
Yes I am aware of what he said. You choose to believe him. You can't have it both ways and say we don't know and then turn around and claim you have knowledge. You see the hypocrisy, don't you?
well I am trusting the investigation into it, I trust he is not racist and I believe he was looking to be in the news. Make his statement against the mask wearing dictate and fines being imposed. It makes sense. Not a smart move but it achieved what he wanted, He wasn’t fined when he was made to take the mask off either. I don’t make up a scenario that contradicts facts and statements. He didn5 make any racial slurs either. He just wanted to make a statement.
I am believing statements, and the investigation into it. Rather than making up a scenario. You on the other hand assume he is white, do you think he is racist too? You looked at his pic with the hood off and said, to paraphrase, yes he is white and looks like someone ready to make racial slurs. And I am the one assuming here? Wow! I dismissed the black guy in the kkk get up and dismissed the person who I do not know how he identifies himself, in the grocery store as both making a political statement, and both being stupid.
Indeed. Doesn't change the veracity of my previous post. Yes. You are. Whatever you may think of my opinion doesn't change this fact. It also comes across as insincere that you refuse to admit it while simultaneously using lack of first hand information of the event to discredit other's opinions. I do. Because he is clearly white and the article did nothing to dissuade us of that notion. It is certainly germaine to the story so I assume this was not an oversight. Interesting the other article made clear the man was black. I think its a strong possibility.
You are assuming a lot of BS to suit your political narrative. I look forward to his name being released. Then either you will take that as proof he is white and racist or eat crow. Neither of which will be facts. But most certainly can’t say he is racist. Was the black guy racist in wearing a kkk get up?
Am I? Assuming the white guy is white isn't a stretch for most folks. White guys in San Diego often have a tan. I am a white guy from New Jersey and also have a tan. We don't suddenly become hispanic when the sun shines. His last name would prove nothing. I have an Irish last name and look more Italian than anything else. Nice try tho, to quote a member of these forums. Also, wishful thinking they will release his name anyway. Telling people their opinions are not factual doesn't seem like a particularly profitable endeavor. It just goes without saying. The man who had a table set up and was clearly there for a demonstration? No. It seems pretty unlikely he is racist based on that story alone.
So when someone makes a statement of I didn’t like the masks being enforced on me so I decided to make a statement in wearing this. It was stupid. That is a lie To you and you make up a story to suit you. It was really stupid. But you are free to make up your own story to suit your left wing lying newspaper source. You might find a job in one of those left wing papers too. Just like the original post in this thread and the headline being racist America, Lol All this proves is that California is full of stupid people, who do stupid things to make self righteous statements. When California opened the beaches recently, he could have been one Of many to go there without a mask on anD not practice social distancing. Freedom.... freedom!
I didn't make up anything, story or otherwise. Your attempt to discredit my opinion here is just kind of sad. ... And you in a right wing paper? *shrug* Ok.
nope I am neutral. Equal opportunity discrediting racism, to the white people and black people within this thread, accused or not accused of crimes. Read back if you want or not and continue to jump to inaccurate conclusions. If saying I don’t know if I can be seen as racism and look to a point of view based on statements by patrons and the individual hold no weight , and papers screw it to suit a naritive, that is based on assumptions, then I can’t agree with you. Hot water agreed it was a guy looking to get his 15 minutes of fane and was a stunt. I agree with that. That does not mean he is racist. The black guy was pulling a stunt too.
