It got personal because this was her first and only post in this thread:

Not even relevant to the topic.

I wish there was an easy way to do a word search and count them up. I'll bet she posts the word "Catholic" ten times as often as she posts the word "Croatian" or "female" or "Slavic" or any other term that she might use to define herself. And she usually uses it in a condescending, judgmental way. I've never seen her post that the Catholic Church is only partially right about some issue.

When you set yourself up to be the online poster child for orthodox Catholicism, you get whatever you get, good or bad. No use to complain about it. That's life on the internet.

When I see anything online that bothers me greatly, I respond to it in an honest and open way. I make no appologies for that. I also kid around and have fun, in threads where that's appropriate.

No argument with you there. I have one close friend who is a Christian, but she isn't rude or confrontative about it. We have mutual tolerance.

I don't even know what your religious views are. It doesn't matter to me.

I can't wait for Piaf to show us an example of that. ;) When it happens, I'll send you some rep points. If I was in the Netherlands, I'd buy you a beer. :cheers2:

Everyone speaks from their own background.

Actually, I think we've provided an excellent example of why racists are misguided. Like most white Americans, the people who cause the most problems for me are white. That is true online and in real life.

The NBA team owner's girlfriend is half white, his wife is white, the head of the NBA is white, and most of the team owners who will eventually vote him out are white. You see, plenty of white Americans have no tolerance for racism. Call us narrow minded or intolerant if you want, but don't ignore the fact that we exist. ;)

Look, we all know it got personal between you and Piaf a long time before this thread already. Perhaps you are trying to say you don't hold past arguments against her and/or religious people but no one believes that since we all have read your posts. You both hate eachothers guts and that is what causing such pitiful arguments. It is not solely your fault or effort, but it is for at least 50%.

And because this personal argument started long before this thread I know I can trust you to be massively subjective against both her person and her religion ;)

That's why I wonder if you really believe there is a valid connection between disliking a croatian person for her opinion on abortus or gay marriage (for example) and projecting and accusing her of being the same people Grace Slick rallied against in your own country 60 years ago (or if that was merely an admirable attempt to go on topic again) :p

I haven't addressed her personally in a long time. I was done with all that.

I don't think anything or anybody can cause me to have a higher opinion of the Catholic Church.

Believe it or not, I don't know any Catholics personally. They are less than 1% of the local population.

I don't believe that religiously-based intolerance has significantly changed in 60 years. Whether your views are guided by the Pope or an evangelical Protestant leader, they are still very likely to be in sharp conflict with those who think for themselves.

Even though we are an international forum with members from everywhere, I try not to totally lose sight of why this place was founded, and why. It all goes back to a specific time in US history.

I have often thought that these forums prove every day that the biggest problems in this world have little or nothing to do with race. One more example today.

Still, I'm pretty sure your dislike against her is based for a large part on her christian background and stances/opinions. There may not have been an argument about it recently but neither of you forgot. I'm not trying to rub this in for drama purposes but it kind of seems you are trying to dismiss that origin of the issues you have with each other.

If she would have made petty insults about your looks from the beginning I would understand your dislike much better though.

When someone totally and absolutely alligns themselves with a specific religious organization, they will never get a lot of respect from me. No more respect than I would give to that organization. Probably less, especially if they make personal insults.

If I want to know the official positions of the Catholic Church worldwide organization, they have their own official website. I can read that for myself.

I would say the same thing about someone who robotically repeats the views of the NAACP.

I've often said that I'm a Democrat, but I don't automatically agree with everything that every member of the Democratic Party has to say. My views are my own.

A person is rarely an individual copy of that organisation with every stance or opinion so when a person proclaims to be both a member of a certain organisation and that she does not like to go indepth about religious topics and her personal spiritual beliefs (which I never saw her do anyway, only on a superficial/one liner level) I don't think you should hold that affiliation against her in every topic she expresses an opposing opinion ;)

I will remain neutral about that since I don't fully understand why they got mentioned in the first place :D Perhaps a subconscious fear of how Piafs boobs might look in a decade?

Enough off-topic BS already! :toetap05: Don't make me any more prejudiced against white people than I already am!

Don't forget, I'm old enough to be her mother. ;) :reddevil:

Asmo, where are you coming from and why are you involved in between the feelings or lack of feelings between 2 other people anyway? I need to ask. It is pretty obvious to me where you stand, so as long as you are happy with that and feel the way you do, that should be all that matters to you...not what anyone else wants to accept or not accept for themselves.....

Man, all I gotta say is. Strange thread. (Through and through... I was originally thinking things along the lines of- and then threads like this can finish what the media started....and then, then, just... how the thread ended. Weird.)
