you can't just call it propaganda every time no one agrees with you. it's lazy arguing. it's cheap. it makes people roll their eyes every time you speak. i've read those link thousands of times. all i can say is there isn't a single woman i've ever known with large breasts, going braless, that didn't have tits around their knees.
Except for the first two (too anecdotal), interesting links. I'd be interested in reading the medical reports if you can find them.
you can't make the argument that they cause sagginess when any woman who's never worn a bra ends up with flapjacks hanging from their chest. it's natural to sag, you said so yourself. so i think i'm willing to take the risk of maintaining my current skin tone, current muscle tone, and have perfectly unnatural titties.
I know this because I do womens health research. I am with KC on this one for sure. Don't go around making up things if you can't back it. Also even if there are articles out there that say bras cause cancer you can make a research article sound how ever you want it to based on the way the paper is written and the statistics are presented. So you are the one that needs to be informed. Just because you found a research article about something doesn't mean anything.
Bras cause breast cancer: If you haven't gotten an e-mail that pronounced the evil of bras during the last couple of years, you're probably not online. The genesis of this Internet rumor is a 1995 book that claimed that bras impede lymph flow in the breast, causing cancer. In fact, lymphatic fluid from the breast drains directly back toward the chest wall and the armpit, not underneath the breast where the bra might be tight. Too bad. It would be great if cancer prevention were as easy as burning our bras. Antiperspirants cause breast cancer: Another e-mail-driven myth purports that antiperspirants are a leading cause of breast cancer because they keep the body from purging toxins in sweat from the armpits or, alternatively, because they are absorbed into the body after shaving. A 2002 study from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle found no link between using antiperspirant, with or without shaving, and breast cancer risk. Pesticides, plastics and cosmetics cause breast cancer. These all have the same basis. It is well established that estrogen is related to breast cancer. Many chemicals found in the environment — organochlorides, parabens — have estrogen-like effects on breast cancer cells grown in petri dishes. Scientists then rightly postulate that exposure to these potential carcinogens might explain some of the increase in breast cancer. http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion...0,6614895.story?coll=la-news-comment-opinions
This is from http://www.007b.com/bra_sagging.php I don't know if it's "The only study ever published on the subject". They say so. ---------------------- The only study ever published on the subject of bras and sagging was done in 1991, in Japan. The study suggests that a bra can actually increase breast sagging rather than the opposite. The abstract says: "Eleven adult female subjects aged 22-39 years wore a certain brassiere for 3 months while anthropometry and moire fringe photographs on the anterior trunk were taken regularly once a week. After the 3 months, the brassiere was not worn for another 3 months. Then the measurements and photogrammetry were repeated for comparison using superimposed moire configurations. The results are summarized as follows. Regardless of slim or obese trunk, subjects with pendent breasts showed the highest degree of breast form "correction" from wearing the brassiere. In all subjects, after 3 months of brassiere constraint, the underbust circumference was smaller but the chest circumference became enlarged, the distance between the right and left nipples became wider, and the breasts tended to hang down. This change was more marked in obese subjects with pendent breasts. And when this type of subject wore a "well-fitted" brassiere for a long time, her breast form became developed, that is, her breasts hung down more." Ashizawa K, Sugane A, Gunji T Institute of Human Living Sciences, Otsuma Women's University, Tokyo, Japan: Breast Form Changes Resulting From A Certain Brassiere Journal of Hum. Ergol.(Tokyo) 1990 Jun; 19(1):53-62.
HELLO!!! the breasts are sagging anyway!! it's already been noted, they're supposed to sag. with or without a bra, they're going to sag, but i'm not letting these things swing and hang down in my favorite shirts....they're not sagging when they're in a bra!!
That really doesn't say much of anything. They didn't take into account many factors. Like I sadi before you can make a paper even a research article say anything you want it to.
I have a d cup and still wear lightley padded bras because they are so comfy and give lots of shape w/o underwires.
i prefer underwires for more elegant dressing, without for casual. i prefer the light padding in cold weather, for obvious reasons. when i get cold you could cut glass with my nipples. i like to diffuse it a bit.
not to be rude, but 11 people is NOT enough for a definitive study. at least 100 people and repeatable results... not saying they must be wrong, but its not enough testing or enough test subjects to be truly definitive
it's natural to sag. just women who go braless sag less. unless they have bad posture. than maybe not. or their fat. that never helps.
sorry but like I said I have not found those studies. Am I using different google words? or the websites down? I don't know. It's a weak argument saying the info's out there. But it is, if you look. sorry those links suck. I kinda just skimmed them. But if I am ever blessed to find those medical reports and journals again I will definitely save the link and post it here. I did like 6 months ago and noone read it. Maybe I can look my old post up.... p.s. other chick. I didn't call it proproganda bc you don't agree with me. I called it that bc it is. and I don't care if you agree with me.
I agree that "11 people is NOT enough for a definitive study". Unfortunately it seems to be all there is, and on the other hand, you get people all the time saying "I have to wear a bra or my boobs will be down around my knees in 20 years time", for which the evidence is zero. Except of course that bra or no bra, a woman's breasts are likely to sag over time, and a bra conceals the effect. But it's a perfectly good reason to wear a bra if a woman says "It feels more comfortable" or "I don't like the way I look without one" or even "I wouldn't be compulsive about it, but I'd feel embarrassed".
I have a D cup and, honestly, if I don't wear a bra for a little support my back hurts pretty badly by the end of the day. Also, I'm a dance instructor, should I not wear a bra, then, too? Sorry, but that actually makes my BOOBS hurt when I do that... I think if you can go without...do it...but I'm not one of those people that can really go without.
personally, dancer annie, i wear a sports bra at the gym. but thats the only place. and thats bc my fiance asked me too (he goes with me). I don't know why... he doesn't care I don't wear bras anywhere else but I do it bc my boobs move alot when I'm running on the treadmill. they wouldn't hurt, I felt free as a bird, but I didn't want people starring at me. it depends, but i won't claim to know from personal experience. just think about it in theory. we women have always had boobs, right? why would they have evolved the way they did if they were not practical? We wouldn't of survived. so yes you could go braless. it would be uncomfortable at first, but you would adjust. of course I read somewhere (I don't think this thread) that women's boobs are getting bigger. my biggest guess on the culprite whould be the growth hormones found in processed foods, but anyways, I was thinking in the future since we are engineering our own food, and using technology (the bra) to support our own bodies, we might be evolving to need one. But I don't think evolution happens that quick. and as long as your not fat I don't see why your boobs wouldn't firm up and get use to the extra movement. and sorry if you are. but what can I say there that wouldn't piss someone off
